A New Project

I really enjoy Pinterest these days.

No bullshit prohibitions on Gun photos.

I just saw this pic and it gave me a great Ideal for an easy project. I'm going to pick up a guitar case from craigslist or FB Marketplace and trick it out for one of my AR15s.

--I have a concealed carry permit after all...

Happy Friday

Yesterday, I was very handy and replace the roof on my pergola with new lattice.

On that project I used my new tool:

   The pneumatic staple gun.

Let's be clear. This thing is a gun. It uses my big air compressor. 110psi and can drive a 2 inch double heavy staple with one trigger pull.

It makes me wonder what the muzzle velocity of the staples would be. Tying back the safety is trivial.

--Makes me wonder how soon before the UK has pneumatic control.

Getting Fit

One of the best things you can do to improve your shooting is to get physically fit.

I have lost over a hundred pounds as part of my fitness efforts.

I am amazed how much better holsters feel. My shooting is better and I am happier in general.

--I recommend it!

Another Project is Complete

This is my Remington 700 in .308 with a Leopold VX6, Archangel stock and AAC suppressor.

--Heading to the 100 yard indoor range on Saturday to try it out!

Updates to a Fav

My suppressed Ruger Mark III may be my favorite fun gun.

I have recently been updating it. There is basically three notable update:

Hogue 82000 Rubber Grip-Ruger

I love the feel of this grip.

Standard Scope Base Rail Black Ruger MKIII

The Weaver base I had on there would not work with the next item.

Trijicon RMR Dual-Illuminated 12.9 MOA Green Triangle Sight

This scope is so sweet on this gun it is amazing! Perfect focus with both eyes open. Great site picture.

--Now if could find a holster...

Tool for Hiding a Gun

I am always on the lookout for good ways to hide and store my guns. This vid shows you how to make a quick and easy and cheap gun magnet.

I could use a series of these on the inside of the door of my safe. I could use it to stash one behind my headboard or a bedside table.

It might even have utility in the trunk of my car.

--Plus it gets rid of that pile of hard drives I have...

Mossberg 152 Project

The Mossberg 152 Project is complete.

My friend Tony did most of the work. This Rifle was completely locked up when it was given to me. It took several hours to completely disassemble, clean, polish and reassemble.

Today we took it to the range and gave it a ride. It shot really well.

1958 Mossberg 152
We ordered a couple replacement parts for it. Most notably a small retention pin in the bolt. It still shoots fine.

--Need to find some mags that don't cost a mint.

Archangel 700 Precision Stock Remington 700 Short Action

I forgot to mention the Archangel upgrade stock I installed on my Remington 700:

Here is how it looked installed:

This also shows the integral bipod deployed.

Another great thing about this stock is that it uses M14 detachable mags. It comes with a single 10 round mag and I have ordered a couple 20 round mags.

--It will still be months before the ATF finishes my paperwork. They cashed the check though.

Robot Sentries

A friend sent me a pic via email.

I would love to build a remote controlled sentry. Here are the features of this that I like:
  • Foundation is an AR15 pistol flt top
  • 300 round, dual drum beta mag
  • Suppressor
  • EOTech sight
  • Remote camera through the EOTech
  • Powerful LED light
The parts I would have to make:
  • Fire control
  • Targeting control
While researching the legal traps I could even use an Airsoft AR as the foundation.

--I wonder if EOTechs have an always on mode?

Next Project

I am building another AR-15 for my next project. This one will be made to be light and comfortable. I have been talking about it for a while.

I am thinking the upper will be configured like this:

It will have a polymer fore-grip and iron sights only with a single point sling. I might consider a flat-top with advance, but lightweight sights. Nothing with heavy batteries though. Crisp and clean and no caffeine...

--Well maybe a little caffeine.

Projects Continued

I saw this pic on Pinterest today and it got me wondering.

I saw an armored car for sale once that had the option of including a turret mounted, belt-fed, semi-auto, .308. I also saw on TV a car renovation show that mad a spy car that had guns mounted in the grill.

What are the rules for automobile mounted firearms.

--Are you ready for the Zombie apocalypse?

SBR Paper Work Has Arrived

The SBR paperwork finally came in for my Glock 21 Roni project!

It will be a super fun rig but in the end will be pretty damn expensive. Here is the list with basic costs:
    • $550 - Glock 21 .45ACP
    • $115 - Factory Threaded Barrel
    • $400 - RONI Carbine Kit
    • $1050 - AAC Suppressor
    • $50 - Magpul sights
    • $90 - Tactical Light
    • $100  - Three 27 Round Mags
    • $35 - Single Point Sling
    • $200 - Class III Tax for Suppressor
    • $200 - Class III Tax for Short Barrel Rifle
    Total: $ 2790

This results in a really compact, light, reliable, powerful and quiet, carbine. Great for the pending Zombie Apocalypse! But is it worth all the money?

--I will probably add a compact EOTech adding another $400.

    New Project Gun

I bought a Mossberg Model 152 from a friend. The action is locked up, the original scope is so dorked it doesn't even have cross hairs any longer, he said it would sometimes mag dup on him and it only has one 8 round mag. But it has a cool drop down hand thing stock!

    Mossberg Model 152

--It should be fun to get this thing shooting again.

    WANT: 300 Blackout SBR Upper

Since my SBR was approved I have been thinking. Always trouble. I have a spare lower and a pistol piston that I was using prior to my SBR approval. Now that I do have my approved SBR Lower I have been thinking about getting an 300 Blackout SBR Upper. It would be interchangeable between the lowers. All the other pieces remain unmodified. They would even use the same mags:

I am trying to decide which one to buy. Here is the leading contender so far:

Advanced Armament Co (AAC) AR-15 Pistol A3 Flat-Top Upper Assembly 300 AAC Blackout (7.62x35mm) 1 in 7" Twist 9" Barrel with KAC URX III Modular Free Float Quad Rail Handguard, Blackout Flash Hide.

This is the size and feature set I want.

--Any recommendations from my readers?  Either of you?

    DIY Ait Gun Fun

Everyone is up in arms about 3D printed guns. Forget that. 3D printers are very expensive. I have a garage and a pile of various tools. I even have an air compressor!

    Check out this video.

--This might be a new hobby!

    Science Fiction Firearms

    Sniper_girl_by_Imagnosisa
So I am writing a Scifi novel and it has a few characters that are trained military personnel in the future. They are well armed. I have glazed over the gun details so far but I am rapidly approaching some decisions.

Here is a list of what I need to create:
    • Sniper Rifle (.50 BMG)
    • Handguns (Glock .45)
    • Light Rig (AR-15)
    • Heavy Rig (AR-10)
All of these firearms would use Caseless ammo. Scifi optics and targeting. They would be made of materials that doesn't exist currently. They are stronger, lighter, more durable and require minimal maintenance.

The twist is that they are projectile weapons. Fire actual bullets. They are not bothered by EMP cannons designed to disable Energy Based Weapons.

--What would be good scifi features!?

    Hidden Storage

Here is another Do It Yourself project for gun storage that a friend emailed to me. Keep them coming!

I was looking for a good place to stash a handy AR in the bedroom and this may be a candidate idea.

I was thinking that an AR15 and a pistol grip shotgun that was inside a drawer but laying flat, with a hinged false bottom covering them would be easy to configure. It could also be easily lockable.

Done right it would be quick and quiet to access the right tools in an emergency.

--Keep sending me things like this! Love em!

    Interesting Idea

I can remember when I outgrew my small steel safe. Back then I didn't have room for a bigger one in my bedroom closet.

If I had thought of this idea I would have done it. You could get one from Freecycle.org or Craigslist.com for free! Simple locking freezer refit would be an inexpensive solution to keeping your guns safely locked away from kids and hidden enough to keep a lot of smash and grab burglars away. It would be easy to add a dehumidifier too.

I like to attribute via links but this one came in via Pinterest!

    --And inconspicuous yet handy solution!

    Vid fun

I have been looking at the various kinds of Ruger 10-22 mods that are for fun shooting. There are various configs like the one below, might be fun project to do. A Gatling gun!! Think of the various options!

I wish someone would invent a "Hopper Feed" for .22 ammo. Dump 500 rounds in the top and rock and roll!

    --That would be fun.
