Happy Blog Anniversary! June 11, 2008.
I started this blog 14 years ago in a different world.
If you would have told me then how nuts the world be now, I would have laughed in your face.
It was President George W Bush then. Sheesh.
All I can say is that I'm going camping.
Blog Anniversary
I started this blog on June 11, 2008?
A lot of the world has changed in those 12 years. Especially in VA.
Back then I never thought Gun control would be a problem in this state.
I now have a racist, idiot for Governor.
For now...

The Miller: 12 Years Old
I started this Blog 12 years ago today.
When I look back at all the things that have changed in those 12 years it's amazing.
TBolt over and New Jovian Thunderbolt got me started. He was just starting his journey with shooting and blogging. He is still doing both.
My posting has been light for the last couple of years because my life became so full something had to give. My writing took over my keyboard time. So much so that it also took over my daytime job. I was able to retire eight years early and write full time. So Much Fun.
My wife was able to retire as well. We sold our house in crazy Northern VA and moved to a quiet little neighborhood of a small Southern VA city.
Social media grew to take over the Internet in those 12 years. Phones got smarter and people seemed to get dumber. We had our first Black President and with that, I thought we had finally put racism to bed. We elected our first Reality TV Host for President because he was not Hillary. If you had told me that this would happen 12 years ago, and I would be glad about it, I'd never have stopped laughing at you.
I have been shooting hundreds of times in those 12 years. Introduced dozens of people to the shooting sports. Went hunting not as often as I'd like, got 9 deer in those 12 years.
I think I will start blogging more. My governor hates me and people like me. I still shake my head to think that people think socialism is a good idea. Political Correctness is rampant and evil.
There will be a lot of topics to discuss. I want to take back the term "Common Sense" because it's not so common anymore.
--Gotta go clean my AR15. Again...

Adding to the Want List |
I think I will be posting more often as we approach several events of note. I hope to bring back the comic.
- More movie reviews.
- More range reports.
- Random humor and shenanigans.
- I need to update the want list too.
- Pics of the week.
- Comic.
- Life.
--Wish me luck. I hope this works!
Happy Anniversary!
It was 10 years ago today that I started this Blog.
Posting has been thin in recent months but I might start ramping it up.
So much has happened in my life and the world in the last 10 years. I am now retired and writing sci-fi full time. I have 4 novels and a pile of anthologies published. This blog actually helped me get into the habit of writing. My kids grew up, finished college, and moved out to lives of their own.
We have had two surprise presidential winners. One because he was black and one because he was a total outsider.
The economy is great as of today. People are more pissed off about stuff than ever. Fake news is fake. Facebook is still popular even though people are finally understanding that they are the Product and not the Customer.
I have bought many guns in the last 10 years. Sold a few as well. Gone hunting. Ate venison. Target shot a lot of paper. I started a webcomic.
I lost 2 brothers in the last 10 years. The hardest part.
I had accidents, repairs to arm, knees and spine.
I also lost 116 lbs in my recent fitness effort.
--What a long strange trip it's been...

I feel a disturbance in the force...
My blogging about guns has slacked off in the last year as my Science Fiction writing has stepped up and consumed more of my time.
But then something excellent happened. I retired to write full time.
Wow. What a feeling.
Not that I have more time I will start writing here more often.
I think the world needs a voice of reason currently with the violence that is being blamed, once again, on guns. On "Assault Rifles".
My usual reaction to these events is to just let the dust settle. Asshats will dance in the blood and nothing will change. Fools on Facebook that know nothing about guns or the law or the 2nd Amendment will spew incorrect info. I usually shake my head and walk away.
I try to provide accurate information to friends, offline. So they don't add themselves to idiot ranks.
Something is different this time.
I feel like there is a swell of protests coming. Marches full of Pussy Hats, teenage kids cutting school, and misinformation.
The Gun-Blogger community has faded in recent years. Lulled by victories.
We need to wake and smell the coffee. We need to step-up our situational awareness now.

House Keeping
This morning I cleaned up the blog page and I was struck by how many blogs I had to delete from my blog list on the right.
More than half of the gun bloggers have quit. Facebook killed most blogs I think. Some of the die hards are still on my daily coffee schedule. Other people take different roads.
Even I don't post as much as I used to. It's not that I don't spend time at the keyboard. I am writing Scifi now in addition to blogging.
I might retire this blog one day, but as long as I still enjoy doing it I will keep it up.
--I may blog even more after I retire. Happy Friday!

Running on Empty
I have been heads down to finish my next novel: Blood of the Scarecrow.
My deadline is Monday to finish polishing. I will be back then with actual content in real posts that actually include stuff about guns!
--Stay tuned. I'll be back.

Vacation is Over
I had two weeks a day of glorious vacation.
Doing the laundry now I realized that all my clothes smell like wood smoke.
I like it.
On Sunday I went to see Guardians of the Galaxy. My local theater is not a gun free zone. I carried, my friend carried. My daughter didn't.
My daughter turns 21 this winter and she plans on taking some formal training to prep to get her permit.
I have to get back into the swing of the normal routine. Morning blogging with coffee.
--Now the time for traffic! I'm going in!

Long days
I am going on vacation for 2 weeks starting Saturday.
I have been putting long days in at work for the Blog posting has been thin. I usually post early in the morning while drinking my first cup of coffee. This week I have been drinking my first cup in the car on the way to work.
Today I am posting while it brews. I forgot to set it up last night!
--Gotta go!

Blogging
I am drinking my morning coffee, watching the news, and sitting down to do my daily blog post, when I hear a story on the TV about a Blogger.
The Redskins hired a Blogger to do outreach for the Team name issue.
He resigned today because of death threats.
Nice.
I have had a few subtle threats buts I think they are trolls that understand that I am a GUN blogger.
For what it's worth I am fine with the Redskins name. When will the PC Police come after the Bullets!?
--Not my circus. Not my monkeys.

Free Icecream is Running Low
I am super busy week for me this week. The wife is sick. No time for reading my usual blogs and web sites. No time for doing decent posts.
--Maybe tonight.

Running Late
I am running late and the blog fodder jar is empty this morning.
Go read Failure to Fire in the mean time.
This comic is on my daily coffee list of things to do while drinking coffee,
Yes. I need more coffee....
--I wish I had time for bacon.

Got up this morning to find I had nothing to blog about.

Starting off 2014
So yet another year begins.
Having just looked back at 2013 I can't help but look forward to what I will be up to in 2014.
So far I already have plans on the calender. I will go to the NRA convention this year again. I will go to a few more big gun shows. I will attend a few Blogshoots or Blogmeet dinners. I will go to the range a dozen or more times. Spend some quality time with my wife and kids there. Maybe even an Appleseed evet or two,
I am also going to thin out my crowded safe. I will be selling some things on VA Gun Trader. I will probably buy a few things there as well. It's a great site if you are a VA resident.
I will do projects. I want to do a few builds. Figure out how to make my various triggers better. I want to do a light AR rig, a nice bolt action, maybe another 10/22.
--Here's to hoping everyone has a great year!

Posting Habits
This week my normal posting habits are completely disrupted.
I usually get up make coffee and do my morning post right before I go to work. Today however, I had to go into the office early. It will be like that every day this week. I'm just trying to get ready have everything organized before I go on vacation.
Today's post is brought to you by the iPhone. It's kind of cool that I can just say these things out loud and they magically appear on the screen.
It's way faster than I can type and it's certainly a way better speller than I am!
Okay. i'll work something up for tomorrow, tonight, after I get home from work.
--Until then have a great Monday!
Gun show Blogmeet!

Map to the Gun Show |

4320 Chantilly Shopping Center
Chantilly, VA 20153
It's 22 Miles from Washington, DC - Directions: I-66, Exit 53B, go 3 miles Rt. 28 N, turn right onto Willard Rd., take 2nd left into the Chantilly Shopping Center, Follow signs to Expo Center.
I love this Gun Show. It is huge. I have purchased several firearms there at good prices. They usually have everything. New items, Class III, optics, old and new firearms, gadgets, gear, knives, books, accessories, ammo (esoteric and bulk), pretty much everything.
Anyway, I go to this gun show often. I have gone with TBolt several times. I have heard that many other bloggers attended the same show at the same time as me.
So the idea behind this Blogmeet is go to the gun show on the same day and the all get together for dinner and drinks and hanging out for a bit. We will meet by the Hotdog Tables, in the front of the hall, in the corner, at 1pm and 5pm. Email me and I will send you my cell number too. Look for this hat:
--I'm doin it! See you there.
