I am taking a photography class on Monday.It's all about studio lighting and working effectivly with models.

This year I want to begin doing a lot more original photography that highlights my favorite firearms. Like my Saiga 12 guage.

What NOT to Recommend to a Woman

A reader sent me the pic below and I thought it was a good idea for a post. A Google image search found the source image for the gun but not this one. I could not even find it on inhersights.net as referenced in the image.

The fact remains that this is NOT the gun to recommend. I would even go as far as encouraging a new shooter, man or woman, to shoot a lot of different kinds of guns until they foind the one that speaks to them. It is all so subjective.

--Just please STOP with the pink Ladysmiths and the pats on the head!

Zombies: Getting it Right

There is so much to love in this photo.

First off, it has a woman that is kick ass. No rescue required. Not only is she competent and aware, she is smart in her pick when it comes to Zombie defense firearms.

She has an AR-15 with a Trijicon ACOG®, good capacity magazines and a pile of spares.

She knows the minivan itself is a weapon.

Long Week

I am so glad it is Friday and a long weekend.

Here are some of the things I got going for me:

• Coffee. Coffee now and every day.
• Pizza for lunch today.
• I'm a Bachelor this weekend so I am going to rip a wall down and make a lot of dust while there is loud music.
• There will be beers, cigars and Bourbon.
• I will be taking The JR Carbine to the range.
• Movies in the home theater will be many and full of Beautiful Women with powerful firearms.
• Steak and bacon.
• Did I mention it's a 110 inch screen?
• I might even sleep in until 6:30am!
• And we will kick it off with Jane Russell...

This is actually an interesting video of a woman shooting a 10 gauge shotgun. She has a decent grasp on how to shoot a beast like this.

Movie: Taking Lives

I watch a lot of movies. This one got by me somehow. Girls with guns always find their way into my home theater.

There wasn't a lot of guns in this movie. The murders were done mostly with cars and rocks.

 I must say for some reason I saw this plot coming. Even though I enjoyed Angelina Jolie naked in hot sex scenes the plot double reversals were a bit obvious for me.

Conceal Carry Options for Women

A friend emailed me a link to a good video that details several holster options for women.

It was the result of a talk we had where I mentioned thigh holsters as a summer sundress option.

My skin and sinus's are so dried out I can hardly stand it. At least it's not 110 degrees today.

Machine Gun Experience

So when I arrived in Vegas I was heading for the car rentals and I saw a huge bill board for opportunities to shoot machine guns.

I called the number and got the run down on the packages. The went from $99 to $1600.

The most popular "Value" Package was $399 witch included 11 machine guns (25 rounds each). $399 for like 30 seconds of fun.

The more expensive packages have private "Helpers".

"If you prefer, sir. You can watch as the helper fires the machine guns."

They do a big business in bachelor and bacheloret parties!  They have a "Private VIP Range". What stays in Vegas...


--Gotta love free enterprise.

Range Day with the Wife

Mothers Day is the perfect day to take my wonderful wife out to the range for some practice.

There were lots of woman at the range on Sunday. Alone and in couples and groups. Everyone was having a safe fun time.

My wife had not been in a while but was doing excellent anyway. Single action and double action.

She does not flinch at all when she shoots. No anticipation flinch or any when she tries to squeeze seven shots out of a six shooter!

She even ran a six shot rapid fire this session and landed every shot on the target at 60 feet.

--She is nicely confident in it's use...

Ruger 10/22 Custom Zombie Killer

The season finale of Sons of Guns was on the Tivo tonight!

It had Max Brooks and the Zombie Rifle challenge.

The Winner of the challenge was a suppressed Ruger 10/22 with a custom bullpup stock, dot scope, tac light, laser and even a spike bayonet.

Max Brooks was funny. Can't wait for his movie.

Kids and Shooting

I am taking my excellent daughter shooting again this weekend.

She is a tiny little thing and might try a bigger gun this weekend. It is all up to her.

.22LR hand gun and rifles are great for introducing kids to gun safety and the fun of shooting. When I was in elementary school we had a semester of rifle range for gym. Girls and boys. There was a four lane, twenty five yard range in the school basement. It was also the bomb shelter.

I was looking around for classes for kids. The local NRA has quite a few programs for kids and parents.

There is also Appleseed.

Another Chicks with Guns related post: I seem to be focusing a lot on women and firearms. I love Penn and Teller. I got to help them on stage in Vegas with their double bullet catch trick.

More and more women embracing gun ownership

Chicks with Guns by Lindsay McCrum

It is all over the news on TV and the web that more and more women are embracing gun ownership.

They are also touting record gun sales this year and December in particular. Guns sales were record breaking for the Christmas season.

I personally have been asked on several occasions this year to take women to the range for their first time. My own daughter, who has shown no interest beyond safety, even wants to go soon just for fun.

Concealed Carry Permits and training is way up for women in Virginia where I live. The NRA headquarters range even has dedicated classes for women, by women instructors.

This flood of guns also came with a suspicious lack of blood in the streets. That dead horse beating somehow continues by failed and weak gun control bigots. Yes. Bigots.

Bigot: a person who is obstinately or intolerantly devoted to his or her own opinions and prejudices; especially : one who regards or treats the members of a group with hatred and intolerance.

"Gun Control Bigots" is how I will be referring to them from now on because the shoe fits.
