Cleaning Day
Good Clean Fun |
Every now and then I haul the guns out that I have not shot in a while and give them a once over.
I use to keep a spreadsheet that had all my guns, serial numbers, dates fired and notes about the session. It also had the full disassemble and a deep clean date.
The problem is that I have been a slacker and my gun log has gone out of date.
Mostly it got out of date because it was not handy, being on a computer in another room. So today I move back to a paper log that I will keep in its own pocket on the door of my safe.

Yesterdays "Big" Anti-NRA March
Five sad pictures from today’s anti-NRA March |
Public Campaign, Occupy the NRA, CREDO, Every Child Matters, Moveon, United For Change, USA, New Yorkers Against Gun Violence, The Other 98%, and We Act Radio were all there. I will not be add links to these fools.
A generous estimate was about 100 people total. Not quite the million they wanted. They still made speeches. Still preached to their choir. Even the media was shaking their heads at how pitiful it was.
They timed this march to be the week before the Annual NRA convention. I wonder how many people will be there?

Kids these Days
Did you hear about the kid that refused when a teacher ordered him to take of his shirt? He got suspended and actually got arrested for wearing an NRA T-shirt.
The kid apparently played it very cool and allowed them to take him away.
In one of the best "Fuck You" moves to the liberal fascists, he was cleared and returned to school wearing the very same T-Shirt.
--He and a ton of other kids that were wearing it in solidarity.

Hats
I think we need more hats.
We were clearing closets when I realized how many hats I have. Probably at least fifty hats.
Granted they are mostly baseball hats. Usually purchased while on vacation to keep the sun off because I forgot to pack a hat for that trip.
Lots of shooting related hats. Plenty of camo hats for hunting and camping. Others designed to keep hot brass away from my collar. Industry hats with logos from Glock, Remington and the NRA.
Even a Hoplorati hat!
They keep my dome warm or cool and the sun out of my eyes and the rain off my glasses. All good for shooters.

Boston Bombers
What?
The Boston Marathon Murderers had guns even though it was illegal to have them. Neither one of them had permits. Massachusetts is one of the places in the country with the tightest gun control.
Say it ain't so.
And when it got dangerous out there what did ALL the cops have? Evil Assault Rifles. The same guns that are "only good for war"? The same guns that are "only good for killing people".
Don't get me started about undeclared martial law police state tactics. If that had happened where I live there would be no searching of my house without a warrant or a lawsuit. And you can bet I would have had my AR15 at hand.
I hope this results in MILLIONS of dollars of lawsuits.
--Bad Guys getting guns illegally and killing people. Unpossible, you need a permit!!

Mixed Messages
It really makes me wonder.
Why would the Obama Administration seek to make it easier for immigrants to obtain firearms while, at the same time, it tries to make it MORE difficult for Americans?
I read an a post on Breitbart today:
"Normally, the Department of Justice’s Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) requires legal aliens to live in a state for 90 days before buying a gun. The ATF does this through a rule attached to the Gun Control Act of 1968.
In June, Holder’s DOJ proposed to eliminate that 90-day residency requirement rule."
--I can't seem to see the motivations of these guys.

Let's Blame the Bomb
So why is no one blaming the bomb?
Thanks to every media outlet every nut-ball out there now knows where to find info on the Internet on how to make a killer bomb in their Kitchen! Oh and don't forget the rusty nails and the ball barrings.
Now we even have professionally created instructions with excellent graphics thanks to the media.
Let's also teach these villains how to disguise their faces from cameras.

Gun Control Slapped Down
In a bi-partisan vote the last surviving remains of the Sandy Hook Aftermath Panic Gun Control Act had the plug pulled.
The Bill was defeated as well as all the amendments.
Did you see the press conference? He had a tantrum over this piece of bad legislation? The biggest question I have today is why was President Obama more upset about this than the terrorist bombing in Boston? Maybe it was all the tens of millions of dollars that was wasted by flying Sandy Hook families around on Air Force One so they could be trotted out to be on display as people danced in the blood of their children. All for nothing. I don't think that's it. Because wasting money if a favorite hobby.
Look at the face on Joe "shotgun" Biden. He might turn into a muppet soon if he gets more frowny.
They took their best shot. They got our attention. Time for us to get busy. Time to join the NRA. Time to write your representative to thank them or to let them know that they have lost your vote and you are going to make sure everyone you know will be voting against them next time. Because now we know who the Death-Eaters really are.
I am going to stop leaning on all the people that are now crying in their coffee. No more talking past the sale. They will be distracted soon by something else. Illegal Immigration is my bet.
--We won. Now get up. This is no time to rest.

Marathon Bombing
"Hey, Joe! Get Walmart on the horn. I hear they sell bomb making supplies." |
I have come to hate the talking heads that just speculate with minimum facts. It has been released that the bomb was made in a kitchen pressure cooker with black powder, nails and ball bearings.
They started talking about how easy it is to buy black powder. How dangerous it is and how easy it is to make bombs with it.
Oh boy.
--Does this mean there is going to be a run on black powder now!?!

Gun Control Water Down Again...
The Public Safety and Second Amendment Rights Protection Act
Some of the details are starting to come out. So far it is not as bad as I thought it would be. The proof will be in the real text of the full bill and it's amendments.
There is a big section of telling the states to do their damn job in reporting crazy people.
Expanding background checks at gun shows? VA already has these checks at gun shows. It exempts privates sales and loans of firearms with no reporting requirements.
The Internet Sales portion seems to be laying rules down for companies that will make Internets sales easier. That is odd.
It also has language that eases thru-transport of guns if you are traveling from stat to state.
The bill so far will not ban or take away anyone's guns, magazines or ammo, or create a national registry.
Hard core Anti-GunControl folks will not like it.
I love that it seems to be a big Fuck You to DiFi.
--The final text of the bill will be key.

Democrats propose $10,000 fine for gun owners who don’t have insurance
From a reader:
Rep.
Carolyn Maloney (D-NY) and eight Democrat cosponsors have introduced
the “Firearm Risk Protection Act” (H.R. 1369) into Congress, the first
bill that would require liability
insurance of gun buyers nationwide.
She was joined in sponsoring the bill by Reps. James Moran of Virginia and Eleanor Holmes Norton of Washington, D.C.
The proposal was introduced into the House Judiciary Committee.
Add caption |
The
law would require gun buyers to have liability insurance coverage
before being allowed to purchase a weapon and imposes a fine of $10,000
if an owner is found not to have
the required coverage; service members and law enforcement officers are
exempt from this insurance requirement.
Attempts to pass legislation in several states have failed.
“We
have a long history of requiring insurance for high-risk products – and
no one disputes that guns are dangerous,” Maloney said in a statement.
“While many individual states
are debating this issue now, it makes more sense for Congress to
establish a national requirement to allow the insurance markets to begin
to price the risks involved consistently nationwide.”
Although
the bill would require gun owners to have “a qualified liability
insurance policy,” obtaining such coverage could be nearly impossible as
few companies offer that
type of product.
“Legislatures
can mandate, but can’t compel insurers to sell it,” said Robert
Hartwig, president of the Insurance Information Institute when asked
recently by IFAwebnews.com
if the insurance industry was prepared to offer firearm liability
insurance.
Currently,
guns are only insured as property in most cases, but bodily and
property injury due to accidental discharge may be covered under a
traditional homeowners policy,
akin to slip and fall incidents.
According
to Hartwig, most insurance companies understand the low probability of
such an event and do not even ask prospective policyholders if they own a
gun.
The
National Rifle Association currently endorses an “excess personal
liability” plan with up to $250,000 in coverage, administered by Lockton
Affinity. A “self-defense” rider
is also available, covering NRA members involved in an act of
self-defense.
The
six other co-sponsors of Maloney’s bill are Keith Ellison (Minn.),
Michael Capuano (Mass.), Bobby Rush (Ill.), Nikki Tsongas (Mass.),
Stephen Lynch (Mass.) and Earl Blumenauer
(Ore.).

Suppressor Shopping
I am currently shopping for a suppressor for my .223 SBR.
I have been reading on several forums and Youtube that using a 7.62mm suppressor on a 5.56mm is effective and has the benefit of the ability to use the same suppressor on other rifles.
I am leaning toward trying it with all else being equal.
Suppressing a .223 SBR is an interesting project. I really want a suppressor because that little bastard is damn loud!
I will also have to try a box of Subsonic .223 to see if it will cycle my rig. Here is a brand that says it will.

Racists
I was at a professional conference yesterday and overheard a gun control conversation.
The solution offered up was to allow people to buy guns but tax the hell out of guns and ammo.
$100 per bullet. $10,000 per firearm. And then he qualified it with the following statement.
"No tax for the government or police though."
It was then that I added, "Or criminals...".
They just stared at me. I continued in their own superior, intellectual, conversational tone, "If you bothered to take the time and look at the history of Gun Control in the US, that kind of plan has been used in the past to keep guns away from blacks and the poor. It is classist and racist." Total conversation killer. Love it.
I actually might have put a pebble in a couple shoes. Maybe.

Firearms Insurance
I am looking for a new insurance provider for my firearms. It has been far too long since I updated the rider policy I have.
You may not realize that most homeowner or renter insurance policies have a firm limit on firearms coverage.
I am looking for recommendations.

I am looking for a policy that will cover lost or stolen guns, ammo and accessories. It was also need to include fire coverage. I have a current full inventory with photos and serial numbers.
