Range report

I went to the range yesterday with my friend Tony. It was still seriously crowded. ESS has 42 lanes and had about an hour wait.

I think it's like the after Holidays run at gyms. Except it lasts longer.

We had some fun shooting .22 shorts!

--More later.

Happy MLK

I have the day off today.

I saw this gun in my Facebook feed this morning. This was some serious, high tech, tactical, goodness back in the day.

You had to be in some bad mojo if you were carrying this around. It's an open pan flintlock. There would be loose black powder in that pan as you walked around.

--Very collectible.

Random Friday

I could not force myself to watch the Republican debates last night. It was the same with the State of the Union address. It makes me miss Richard Nixon.

My wife took her concealed carry training class this week. She wants me to find a shoulder rig for her.

Weather finally got freezing cold.

It is a long weekend for me with MLK Monday off. I should be able to get a lot of writing done.

I am really hating the media today. We have a safer world now than we have ever had. They use fear to sell soap.

I am mostly tired of the term "Gun Violence" as if other kinds of murder doesn't count.

--Coffee and work!

AR15 Lower Build Procedure

I encourage everyone to buy a stripped lower and a parts kit to assemble yourself. Putting it together yourself is easy and it helps you understand how the the functions.

--Watch those tiny springs!

Person of the Week: Officer Jesse Hartnett

This week, Officer Jesse Hartnett was attacked, ambushed, by an Islamic Extremist. He was shot at 13 times and even though he was wounded he returned fire hitting the bastard who was later apprehended. Officer Hartnett is in stable condition but his arm was severely damaged.

--Get well soon Jesse.

Random Monday

Well it's another Monday and I am running dry on blog fodder.

The Powerball lotto is up to $1.3 Billion. The 'what if I won?' dream list of guns I would buy has been simplified to ALL. If you had that much cash I would be buying gun stores, security firms, and secure compounds.

All our Christmas decorations are down now. The house seems much bigger inside.

This is the first 5 day work week for me since Thanksgiving week! Oh the Humanity!

I may go see Star Wars again this week in IMAX 3D.

I hope to finish up the first draft of my next novel this week.

They just said there is an Arctic Chill headed this way. I'm ready. I have a Ka-Bar ice scraper!

--Need more coffee...

Person of the Week: Retired Lt. Gen. Mike Flynn

Retired in 2014, Lt. Gen. Mike Flynn
Retired in 2014, Lt. Gen. Mike Flynn, President Obama’s former director of the Defense Intelligence Agency at the Pentagon, served in the U.S. Army for 30 years but believes the nation is being lead by an ideological allegiance that crowds out strategies and decisions based on facts on the ground.

According to the candid Flynn, President Obama — who called ISIS a “JV team” — is downplaying the Islamic threat and overstating our readiness because of an allegiance to his ideology. The energetic general dismisses the tone-deaf Democrat or media elite’s focus on gun control or Islamaphobia after the Paris and San Bernardino terrorist attacks. Flynn says, “It is about religion, and not about gun control.”

Crowded

I went to the Nations Gun Show this weekend and noted a few things.

First of all it was super crowded. and people were buying.

Ammo was in good supply but prices were not as good as the past.

The beef jerky was excellent.

I was looking for a specific rifle and did not find the one I wanted. I want a Savage MKII FV-SR. It's a .22LR and has a threaded barrel for a can.

--I will keep looking.
