Lessons from the Blogshoot

Had a lot of fun as usual at the Blogshoot in West Virginia.

Learned several things that I will be detailing this week.

The first is a simple: Batteries

Make sure you always have extra batteries for your EOTech scopes. Even if you don't need them.

By the way, if the last place you were shooting was indoors your unit may be adjusted so low that you may just think that your batteries are dead when in actually they are just fine.

--I have only made that mistake three or four times...

West Virginia Bound

I am heading out in a few minutes to go shooting with a pile of friends in West Virginia.

I will not be shooting too much today. I will see how much my most recent injuries will allow.

I will take some preemptive Advil just in case!

Anyway, the social part will still be great!

Blogshoot!

Blogshoot 2015 is ON!

Come one, come all, and especially if you were here before...we're doing another blogshoot here in West Virginia's eastern panhandle, this time on Saturday, October 24. All of the usual suspects are being invited again and this is a great time to see and shoot lots of neat guns as many people bring some really cool stuff.

As before, we'll shoot in the morning/early afternoon, then adjourn for a nice sit-down dinner before going our separate ways. There will probably be a dinner on the Friday night beforehand too for those who plan to travel down the night before and grab rooms, and, as usual, money collected will be shared with the range and a charity to be determined, so it's for a good cause, darn it! Come shoot and hang out with some of the greatest folks on the blogosphere. Old NFO, Keads, Proud Hillbilly and Aaron from the Shekel are already roped in and others are being sought, so come add to the circus...and if it shoots, you can shoot it here.

More Blogshoot Goodness

Another excellent bit of fun at the Blogshoot last weekend was shooting a few mags through my friends full auto UZI.

These have far less recoil than you would expect. It is actually pretty easy to stay on target for the 1.5 seconds of fun this baby sprays out.

I ran about 100 rounds 9mm subsonic hallowpoint ammo out of this sweet machine. More on that later in another post.

--I will never get use to the weirdness of open bolt firearms.

Blogshoot Saturday

I attended a Blogshoot this weekend that was hosted by the Blogger over at Lagniappe's Lair!

I will be talking about the various kinds of fun I had at this shoot all week long.

The first bit of Big Fun was that I had the privilege to shoot Larry's awesome Barrett .50cal.

Those bullets are BIG.

I was surprised that the recoil was not as bad as I thought it would be. It was more like a shove than a hit.

It was excellent.  If you ever get a chance to shoot one of these beauties, do it.

I am heading out to a Blogshoot today in West Virginia.

It should be a cool day, having fun with friends!

Another BlogShoot!

There is another Mid-Atlantic Blogshoot coming up on November 1st 2014.

It will happen once again in Jefferson County West Virginia.

There will be ranges from 7 to 400 yards as well as dinner after if we run like last time.

I will be bringing my new Remington 700 to test it out at a decent distance. I will be bringing my AR15 SBRs and my Roni.

On Saturday September 29th there will be another edition of the Nations Gun Show.

It's 22 Miles from Washington, DC - Directions:  I-66, Exit 53B, go 3 miles Rt. 28 N, turn right onto Willard Rd., take 2nd left into the Chantilly Shopping Center,  Follow signs to Expo Center.

I love this Gun Show. It is huge. I have purchased several firearms there at good prices. They usually have everything. New items, Class III, optics, old and new firearms, gadgets, gear, knives, books, accessories, ammo (esoteric and bulk), pretty much everything.

Anyway, I go to this gun show often. I have gone with TBolt several times. I have heard that many other bloggers attended the same show at the same time as me.

So the idea behind this Blogmeet is go to the gun show on the same day and the all get together for dinner and drinks and hanging out for a bit. Maybe a restaurant, maybe my house to grill burgers with bacon and pepper jack cheese, hanging at my bar or at the fire pit, having a cold beer or two.
