AimSHOT KT8150

I ran the AimSHOT KT8150 on my suppressed Glock 17. I have to say this is basically the perfect LASER for this handgun configuration. The clearance is perfect for directly under the suppressor.

It came from a great online retailer, Grab A Gun (GrabAGun.com). Check out their new website. Lots of great deals currently!

This is a AimSHOP 8150 compact green LASER.

I love this little guy for several reasons.
  • It's very compact
  • Mounting flexibility
  • Adjustable aim point
  • BRIGHT green LASER
  • USB rechargable
I only had one issue with it. When I ran it on my 300 Blackout it was on target right out of the box. I had to adjust it on the Glock. The problem was the adjustment wasn't UP-DOWN and LEFT-RIGHT.

The adjustment screws are at 4:30pm and 7:30pm instead of 3pm and 6pm.

It was not impossible to adjust the aim point but it did take a bit longer.

The instructions that came with the LASER did not show and way to rotate the device. I have an email in to the manufacturer and when I hear back I will let you know.

--All in all, at $92, this LASER is an excellent value. Go buy one!

Still Falling

It is really interesting the feedback I get about my science fiction novel. Feedback about the guns.

The this is the book is set 600 years in the future and they still use projectile weapons. And the have good reason to use them. They are EMP resistant.

They are also closed bolt and use completely caseless ammo. One reader said, "Now that is Science Fiction!"

The future of firearms expands in Book 2: The Broken Cage where I introduce Frange Carbines. These are projectile weapons designed to be used on board space ships and will only fire frangible ammo.

Go buy the book: Still Falling

Aimshot LASER

I recently obtained a new Green LASER from a great online retailer, Grab A Gun  (GrabAGun.com). Check out their new website. Lots of great deals currently!

This is a AimSHOP 8150 compact green LASER.

I love this little guy for several reasons.
  • It's very compact
  • Mounting flexibility
  • Adjustable aim point
  • BRIGHT green LASER
  • USB rechargable
The first gun I tried it on was my new 300 Blackout rig. The low profile and light weight was prefect for my new favorite rifle. It is so bright that it's easy for me to see even in daylight. It's flexible mount point system allowed me to attach it where rail space was tight.

Maybe my favorite thing about it is that it's rechargeable. It has a micro USB socket on the other side that you simply plug in and charge it up. No replacing expensive batteries!

I am reluctantly going to take it off the 300 Blackout so I can try it on my suppressed Glock 17. I hand mounted it on that gun briefly to see if it would clear the suppressor and it did, perfectly. I will be posting about that next week. I'll try not to gush like a little girl...

--I suspect I will end up with more that one of these!

Everything You Should Know About AR Buffer Springs

Now that I have several ARs in the safe I am trying to learn more about their care and feeding.

-- I may need to get some new springs...

Killer Robots!

Just remember: .308 is a good round for robots. The small ones anyway..

--Terminators are not so far away...

300 Blackout SBR

The 300 Blackout Project is finally complete.

This rig is now tuned up exactly the way I wanted it. The sub-sonic 300 Blackout is the perfect round for suppressing. The huge can does not ruin the balance on this rig and it is so quiet.

Now I need a case or two of ammo.

--Zombies beware.

Each man must… decide what is right and what is wrong, which is patriotic and which isn't. You cannot shirk this and be a man.
– Mark Twain

All men having power ought to be mistrusted.

Bears in VA

Someone saw a black bear in my suburban neighborhood yesterday and now they are freaking out a bit. This is in addition to coyotes that have spread through the state, eating outdoor domesticated cats.

This has renewed the discussion and debate about hunting, or lack there of, in Virginia. My suppressed 300 Blackout is perfect for black bears!

--If you see a bear, don't hug it.

Yardsale Find

Last weekend I scored a Caldwell Steady Rest at a yard sale for $2.

You have to love a yard sale where the woman has no idea what it is she is selling.

"Make me an offer." she said.

When I looked in my wallet I had two $20s and two $1s. She saw me do this and when I said "$2"...

"SOLD!"

--This will be damn handy at ESS when I am sighting in my rifles at the 100 yard indoor range!

Computer Crash

Posting interrupt hast happened! My computer has died.

I am posting this morning from my iPhone.

My paranoia paid off. All my important files are backed up. I use the cloud for email and other things.

--Hopefully the damn thing will be fixed today.

Slept in Saturday

I have been super busy for the last four months.

This is the first Saturday morning in a long time that I slept in and got to sit and drink coffee in a quiet house.

I think I make go cruise some yard sales with the wife. I would enjoy buying some crap I don't need.

I may actually go to the range today, by my self for once.

I will probably shoot my suppressed Glock 9mm. As seen in the photo.

--Just for me!

Mothers Day

Happy Friday!

Well people, it's Mothers Day this weekend.

Also known as, Take a Mom to the Range weekend.

You know the restaurants are going to be packed for brunch. Take her to the range!

Make the trip about her. Let her do most of the shooting. Guide her is she needs guidance. Encourage her. Don't make her shoot what you think she should shoot. If she likes the .22LR rifle, let her shoot it a lot. If she likes the .44mag, let her.

--My mom died in 1994. I never got to take her to the range. Don't wait.

Bang for your buck

I saw an article in the Washington Times that detailed the best handguns for under $500.

It is a good list but my choice of Best Bang for the Buck is the Glock 17, 9mm.

The Glock 19 also made the list.

--I would also add the Glock 21 was a great value .45ACP.

I need another model

I am in search of another subject for a photo shoot.

This time I would like her to be an actual shooter. I want to avoid having to make someone who has never touched a gun look like an experienced shooter.

I am in Northern VA and you would get copies of all photos we take for your own use.

Send me a private email if you are interested.

--It's spring! We can shoot outside!

Running Late on Friday

Time has been thin this week.

My children's Grandfather is under hospice care and we have been sitting with him on an end of life vigil.

His name is Bert Miller and his 90th birthday is on Monday.

Why do I mention him on my gun blog? Bert has been a life long liberal democrat. But he was always respected my opinions. He believed in the Constitution and the strength of the foundation it created.

He was the first person to explain the depth of the bigotry associated with gun control to me.

My thoughts will be with him during this time.

--I can hear his laugh, even now.
