CCW Reciprocation

As previously discussed I recently renewed my concealed carry permit. Virginia has been discussing Constitutional Carry, removing the need to have a permit.

There is a new item for my Want List. A Ruger 77/44 with an integral Suppressor.


This is a great combination. A powerful round in a bolt action rifle. All made quiet. You can also get the rifle in .357 mag.

Northcoast Blogshoot II

Last year I was fortunate enough to attend the Northcoast Blogshoot I event. It was a massive amount of shooting fun but the best part was all the new friends I got to meet. Back by popular demand.


This year it looks like it will be a two day shoot and camping space is available! Let Breda know if you plan on attending.

Falling Skies

Falling Skies on TNT
Falling Skies is a Scifi TV show on TNT. It begins six months after a massive alien invasion of Earth. The series stars Noah Wyle as Tom Mason, a Boston history professor with a specialty in military tactics. He’s assigned to Weaver (Will Patton), the commander of 2nd Mass.

Moon Bloodgood is Anne Glass, a pediatrician who lost her own family but is taking care of the children in the group.

This show is a major gun-o-rama. It was hard to keep up, even in High Def. Handguns, Rifles and shotguns. It even had a full auto M2 that was tripod mounted in the back of a GTO!

I like this show so far! I find myself wating a lot of the firearms in this show!

Texas Mayor Warns Residents To 'Bolt Your Doors'

"ALTO, Texas—People here are bracing for a spike in crime after the city put its police force on furlough.

Budget woes in Alto, Texas have forced drastic measures, including laying off the five-member police force. A newspaper's antique printing press is being moved to a museum for safe keeping. WSJ's Ana Campoy reports.
"Everybody's talking about 'bolt your doors, buy a gun,' " said Monty Collins, Alto's mayor, who was against the measure.

City Council members sent the police home when they decided they couldn't afford them. On June 15, the police chief and his four officers secured the evidence room, changed the passwords on their computers and locked the department's doors for six months—longer if local finances don't improve by then."

Sign Generator

I found a cool Sign Generator that has actually turned out to be a nice tool to make some signs to put on the inside of my safes.

I won't try to tell you I didn't make a huge amount of other signs. Let's just say that my fridge had a new one everyday for weeks. Mystery signs popped up all over work. Bathroom stalls were well warned...

KSG Revisited

Here is another video of the Kel-Tec KSG 12 gauge, bull-pup, shotgun. I really want one of these babies. As I watched this vid I decided that I would use a vertical grip in the front to help protect my fingers.

Remington 1100 TAC 4

I am liking the look of the Remington 1100 TAC 4. I think this guy has to go on the want list. This shotgun was mentioned by a commenter in my post about the Beretta Tx4 12 ga. I started looking for one and finally saw one. It holds nine shots, has a 22 inch barrel, polymer stock and lots of stocks and other after market upgrades are available.

A pistol grip is even available. So maybe I won't cut down my model 11. What can I say, I like pistol grip shotguns!! At $760 street price, it goes on the Want List!!

Primitive Weapons

I have recently taken up primitive archery again. By that I mean long bows. Not compound bows. I already have a compound bow and a compound crossbow.

A friend of mine is a big time SCA Archer. The SCA is the Society for Creative Anachronism. Basically they are a bunch of beer drinkers with a history problem.

It's been like 15 or 20 years since I have done any real archery. I did OK. I shot about 200 arrows and didn't miss the target. I was using a 30 pound long bow. Some folks had crossbows too. Big fun.

I will be buying a decent bow this summer. Maybe even do some bow hunting this fall.
