Defending Self-Defense

I had occasion to visit The University of Virginia in Charlottesville, VA recently and really enjoyed it. I was amazed to discover that I was allowed to carry concealed there. I have a friend at work who went to UVA. He pointed me to this article, written by a student there:

Defending Self-Defense
The University’s prohibition of concealed firearms on Grounds severely limits the safety of students

--It is very concise on the issue. Forcing students to rely on a third party for defense is impracticable and unsafe.

Where in the 2nd. Amendment does it say that the RKBA doesn't apply to College Students? As a old Fogey going back to school myself, my local University Administration hated it when I pointed out to them that they a NOT a Governmental Body, that the only laws I need to follow are those that have been legitimately been voted on and approved by the various local/state/Federal levels. They really got mad when I pointed out that, under Ohio Contract Law, that I have Hired THEM to give ME an Education, and in Fact and Law, they are MY Employees due to the fact they accepted MY money for THEIR services. Two adjunct Professors are no longer are working there when I had to go over their heads. They used their positions to punish their students who would not follow their Political Agenda by turning in factual papers disputing their Ideology with the Historical Truth, and I was not willing to be given an "F" because I would not toe the Marxist Party Line.

These Ivory Tower Lefties also need to keep in mind that there are many, many Combat Vets from Iraq/Afghanistan attending Colleges today, and they don't put up with too much crap.

All these old Hippies need to stop flashing back to their '60s SDS days and figure out that many of their students reject their Radicalism, and they should just retire and go into the Dustbin of History.

If I was in college today I would have a concealed carry permit and carry quietly.

It's better to have a gun and not need one than to need a gun and not have one...
