Random Thursday

Today is going to be sunny and 72 and I have to work, dammit.

Bloomberg is dumping his cash into the Virginia. He doesn't seem to be focusing on gun issues. In fact, I believe that stating in his ads that the opponent was given an A rating from the NRA is back firing.

A $175 million dollar blimp escaped yesterday. It dragged a 6700 foot steel cable along behind it. It knocked out power for about 20,000 people. Someone is sooo fired.

Another Republican debate last night. Not all Trump.

--I need to get to the range. Bad.

My Favorite AR-15

I have a couple AR-15s configured in different ways.

The one in the photo is my current favorite. I decided I needed one that was configured to be as light as possible.

It is simple, accurate, clean, no batteries required and very light. On a single point sling it is very comfy.

Even with the suppressor it is my lightest AR-15.

--Best of all, it is super reliable.

Lessons from the Blogshoot

Had a lot of fun as usual at the Blogshoot in West Virginia.

Learned several things that I will be detailing this week.

The first is a simple: Batteries

Make sure you always have extra batteries for your EOTech scopes. Even if you don't need them.

By the way, if the last place you were shooting was indoors your unit may be adjusted so low that you may just think that your batteries are dead when in actually they are just fine.

--I have only made that mistake three or four times...

To him who is in fear everything rustles.

West Virginia Bound

I am heading out in a few minutes to go shooting with a pile of friends in West Virginia.

I will not be shooting too much today. I will see how much my most recent injuries will allow.

I will take some preemptive Advil just in case!

Anyway, the social part will still be great!

--Big fun! Good people!

Star Wars

I was watching the new trailer for the next Star Wars movie and noticed something interesting.

There are clearly some guns in there that are built on AR-15 frames. Have a look.

--It is going to be tough getting tickets...

The Walking Dead

The new season of The Walking Dead is in full swing.

This episode showed the clear folly of not going everywhere armed during an apocalypse. In fact two hand guns and a rifle would be the minimum.

Carol was a total bad ass in this episode. The whole show played out real time as her casserole baked.

Loved it.

--Excellent episode.

Science Fiction Weapons

My next short story tells the story of a science fiction character that is a weapons development engineer.

I find that writing a story about firearms created 600 years in the future to be a lot of fun. I try not to use a lot of Handwavium in the concept but there is a dash of it.

Research on topics associated with this story has been very interesting. Real people have spent a ton of time and money trying to develop a man bearable energy weapon. So far its the batteries that are the problem. Some would be wicked if they work out.

On another note, some of these weapons are already in prototype for vehicle based energy weapons.

--Cooking out eyeballs for fun and profit!

The Assault Weapon Myth

The fact that they admit it now won't matter.

In an amazing editorial the NY Times admits that “assault weapon” is a made up term created by anti-gun Democrats to scare low information voters. Stunningly they also admit there’s no proof the “assault weapons” ban had any impact on crime.

--Haters gonna hate.

Inventory

I was chatting with a shooting buddy yesterday about my suppressed Glock 17 and realized I did not have a photo of it in my inventory file.

I have been such a slacker recently.

I need a new set of photos and features. Because for insurance you need to know all the options as well.

Here is an example in this photo. I spent more cash on the upgrades than on the basic .300 Blackout.

--Need more range time.

A story you are not seeing in the big media.

The media always avoids these stories. Not only because she stopped a mass murder with a gun. She is black with a gun. Carolyn Gudger should be the big story. Not the asshat in OR.

Random Thursday

 It's Friday eve!

Fall temps are here and I am loving it. The rain is over finally.

I am going shooting this weekend with a friend. I might even have some gun related content and photos soon!

I had to post this image again this week. More Progressive gun grabbing crap this week.

A woman on TV was all offended because the LEGO Pirate Ship she bought had a pirate slave on the ship. Fuck you lady and your sensibilities and censorship. I recommend you don't buy my Scifi novel because it has slaves in the story.  And characters use the word Fuck. Oh and so does this blog!

Ammo Ambassadors

Hi JB,

Brandon writing from AmmoToGo.com. I hope you're well and the trip back to New York was a good one. I can imagine knowing that you'll be crossing over that state line is one of those situations where it's not even worth looking up the laws for carrying... just leave it at home.

I know you mentioned you needed some range time and I thought this might interest you. Tuesday, we're launching a campaign with Magtech that we're hoping will put 100,000 rounds into the hands of new shooters for free. We're calling it "Ammo Ambassadors".

Basically, we want to make it as easy as possible for people already familiar with shooting and guns to bring somebody who has never shot before to the range and safely teach them about firearms. With an election just around the corner, the more people we can inspire to get familiar with what gun owners actually do with their firearms, the better.

So, here's how it'll work:
  • Find a new shooter who hasn't been to the range and experienced the joy of shooting before.
  • Download a target off our site and take them to the range.
  • Snap a photo of the new shooter with their target and upload it to our site.
  • You'll get a coupon code that's good for two boxes of free 9mm ammo from Magtech - along with free shipping.
We have 100,000 rounds of Magtech 9mm ready to ship right now. We're hoping to find 1,000 Ammo Ambassadors to take 1,000 new shooters out to the range in the next few weeks.

The details and the target are available here:
http://www.ammunitiontogo.com/index.php/cName/pistol-ammo-9mm#ammo-ambassadors (this page will go live on Tuesday morning at 9 a.m. Eastern Time)

If you think it's worthy, we'd love for you to take advantage of the program or share it with your readers if you think they'd be interested. In either case, thank you for taking the time to consider it.

Storage!

Are you short on storage for your firearms? This might be a good solution for some folks. I recommend adding a simple lock if it doesn't have one already to keep the kids out.

Random Friday

Another Gun Free Zone failed yesterday. When will this experiment be cancelled because it clearly creates a victim rich zone.

Only a good guy with a gun can stop a bad guy with a gun.

I had another book signing last night! I got to meet a pile of other authors! Big fun and I learned a lot!

The Nations Gun Show is this weekend. I am going to see if I can find some bulk subsonic .300BO that is less than a dollar a round.

I am sick of the rain. But I will sit and drink coffee and write scifi anyway.

I was actually going to go to the Drive-in this weekend. Except it's raining!

--More coffee. Need more coffee...
