Updates to a Fav

My suppressed Ruger Mark III may be my favorite fun gun.

I have recently been updating it. There is basically three notable update:

Hogue 82000 Rubber Grip-Ruger

I love the feel of this grip.

Standard Scope Base Rail Black Ruger MKIII

The Weaver base I had on there would not work with the next item.

Trijicon RMR Dual-Illuminated 12.9 MOA Green Triangle Sight

This scope is so sweet on this gun it is amazing! Perfect focus with both eyes open. Great site picture.

One of my alternet personalities has written a science fiction novel!

Still Falling - Solstice 31 Saga: Book 1

Here is the blurb from the back of the book:

Barcus is a senior contract maintenance engineer on the doomed deep space survey ship Ventura. He’s a  working stiff looking for a good paycheck. When the Ventura and its crew enter orbit for a scheduled planet survey, it activates an automated defense system protecting the planet. Although the Ventura is destroyed in the attack, Barcus alone survives the harrowing fall to the remote planet surface. He struggles to remain alive, sane, and to discover why everyone he knew and loved on the Ventura was deliberately murdered.

Swinging between despair and fury he discovers that for every answer he obtains there are more questions raised. Barcus is assisted by the Emergency Module, Em, his most useful tool. It is an Artificial Intelligence system contained in an all-terrain vehicle specifically designed to help him survive. Barcus soon finds himself in the middle of a planetary genocide of the local native population. He is unable to stand passively by as more people die.  Even if they are long lost colonists who  fear “The Man From Earth” like children fear the monster under their bed.

Will he ever find his way home? Will he find out who is responsible? Will his rage just burn this world down? Or will he find his soul in the eyes a starving, frightened woman?

I am told the book has underlying libertarian themes. It is not subtle regarding my thoughts on gun control, equality and justice. Plus a few assholes get shot in the face.

--Go buy it, read it, review it!

EOTech 512

As I was poking around in my safe yesterday I realized that I have 3 EOTech 512's in there.

This is my favorite holographic sight.

  • Holographic sight designed for close-in combat speed and versatility
  • Uses laser light to illuminate holographic red reticle projected on target plane
  • Improves target acquisition, boosts accuracy, and increases control
  • Rugged aluminum hood assembly; knobbed, tool-free mounting bolt
  • Requires 2 AA batteries; supports 1-inch Picatinny or Weaver rails
The batteries last forever and if you forget and leave it turned on it shuts off automatically. Click on the image and you will even find it on Amazon Prime!

--It's big. Sometimes size matters...

So about that paperwork...

Do you remember when I bought my Remington 700 in May 2014? I ordered a suppressor at the time as well. I purchased a can for my 9mm in September.

When I went in to pick up my 9mm suppressor I asked about it.

They called the ATF and discovered that the paperwork was sent the first week of January. They said they will send a certified copy out ASAP. No Problem. 2 weeks.

Hmmmmmm...

I think there is a problem. There is a paper out there, in the wild, stuck under some postmans seat, that has my name, home address, phone number, SSN, and the fact that I have a Silencer in my house.

--I am not going to make a stink until I have my suppressor in hand.

Weekly Comic Wednesday

--Cars would be sold without mufflers. Even if you bought one, when you bought the car, you'd have to pay for it, the car dealer would hold it for you, even though they checked that you had no traffic offenses. Plus the government would add another $200 tax to make sure poor people could not afford them. And it would take 6 to 10 months for the gov to approve your paperwork even though they cash your $200 check right away...

The Race is Over!

Here is where I am so far.
  1. Purchase date - 9/22/14

Random Monday

I had planned to go to the range this weekend but the weather was too damn nice to be indoors so I went with my brother to work on his sailboat.

First, it is docked in stupid Maryland. I am a felon in MD if I carry my gun concealed there. Stupid state. My Brother is moving it to VA this summer.

This was the first time we were at the boat this spring. When we got there we found the bilge pump had quit and his manual backup pump was clogged somewhere. So it was bailing with a bucket. It only took about 20 minutes to completely bail it out.

We found the battery was dead and we could not start the motor. We tried to quick charge it to no avail. A new battery was installed, a new gas tank and hoses were also installed.

The motor started right up. We let it run for a couple hours. Like a top!

--We didn't take it out because he need to register it. Damn government!

The New Glock 43

I am going to have to shoot one of these! This will be a great carry option when my Glock 17 is too big. I need to hold one to test the feel. Just looking at it I know it will be better than my P3AT.

--They are going to sell a ton of these.

GMU's shooting club

The Washington Post is not usually a friend to gun owners so when I saw a story there that was a positive depiction of shooting I was surprised.

Red vs. Green Laser Sights

I read this article over at Lucky Gunner about LASER sights:

Red vs Green

I have both red and green LASERS for various firearms.

For me, it is very subjective because I am color blind and do NOT see red as well as many people.

Green LASERs are the clear winner for me. The Lasermax Unimax, Rail Mount, Green 5mW, 532nm Laser is my favorite. I can see this dot even in daylight.

--I love LASERS but go though a lot of batteries leaving the on.

Charlie Brown

There is this meme on the internet that I kind of like. They take comic or cartoon characters and depict them after the apocalypse.

The first of these I saw was Velma and Scooby Doo.

The most recent was Snoopy and Charlie Brown.

These characters are usually well armed, still can be recognized once you know who it is, and made awesome.

--Email me if you find more of these!

Random Saturday

It has been a long damn week for the Miller Meister.

My Spring Allergies kicked in this week, dammit. You'd think I could have one damn week where I could drive with the windows open. Plus it's not fair to have snow on the ground AND a high pollen count.

One of my surveillance cameras is down. You don't realize how useful the things are until you don't have it.

I discovered what happens this week when you try to shoot .300 Blackout in an AR-15 piped for .223. Nothing. More later on this.

I need another Glock 17. Two is one and all that.

Hillery Clinton wasn't able to use two email accounts and she wants to be president? Does not pass the sniff test.

Weekly Comic Wednesdays are very popular around here. Maybe when I retire it will become daily.

Yes. I'd like to retire. NOW!

Hunting Vacation Option

I know a lot of shooters and a lot of hunters. Even beg game hunters.

If you have the coin for a serious big game, multi-species, North American, hunt you need to check out Best Value Hunts.

Here is the kind of hunts BVH specializes in: Whitetail Deer, Mule & Blacktail Deer, Elk, Pronghorn, Bear, Caribou, Moose, Sheep, Mountain Goat, Cougar, Lynx, Bobcat, Bison and Muskox.

You deserve that big hunt vacation.

I know Michael Haiss, the Hunting Consultant that runs the show over there. He's a great guy. Tell him JB Miller sent you over!

--Just thinking about it is making me hungry...

RIP: Terry Pratchett

Sir Terry Prachett has died at age 66.

Terry brought a lot of pleasure into my life. There are very few books that have literally made me laugh out loud.

Damn.

Night Watch was the first of his books that I read. I tore though the rest after that.

--Rest in Peace

3 Gun System

This weekend one of my buddies from college visited. He brought his 22 year old son with him.

Of course I took them to the range. He loved it.They both did.

This kids mom is a RABID anti-gun crazy person. Insane. She thinks the best reaction to bullying is to not fight back. ever.

She is going to be pissed when she finds out her son is now planning a 3 gun system of his own. A Glock 9mm, a Rem 870 and an AR15.

--It's a good start...

Snow

Got to shovel snow.

I'll post later... dammit. Sick of this winter.

Court denies stay in Mance v. Holder

In VA the impact of this case will be a little different.

The appeals will happen but now it's looks like just a matter of time before you can legally buy a gun in any state. The thing is, Mance v. Holder will cause thousands of people to flow into Virginia from Maryland, DC, and other places that hate people and doesn't want them to be able to protect themselves.

Virginia Arms in Manassas

--This will also make the Gunshows in VA more crowded. I Like It!

RIP: Leonard Nimoy

I got to meet Leonard Nimoy in 2009.

He was the keynote speaker at a computer security conference I was attending for work.

He talked about his life, his career, Star Trek and nothing about computer security.

Best Keynote EVER.

He just told a lot of stories like we were all sitting around his dining room table. Except the story about his magic power.

He told us that he had discovered he had the ability to make cameras flash. Then he held up his hand.

My camera flashed...

He was really great. There were a thousand nerds in that room. He hung out to sign autographs, stand for photos and shake hands with EVERYONE that wanted to meet him. It took hours. We found out later the organizers had not asked him to do that. He was funny, humble gracious and will be missed.

I followed him on Twitter I will close with his final post:

Random Mondays

Random Gun Porn
The Blog machine is empty we now have a random thought Monday!

It's going to be a busy week for me because of work. The ice out there is not helping.

I have some new accessories to install on various firearms. Blog posts will follow.

Still waiting for both of my suppressors paperwork to arrive.

I have begun setting up a Gun Trust for my NFA items. More on that later.

I will be going to the range this weekend with a college buddy if the weather allows it. Who am I kidding? I will be going to the range this weekend even if he doesn't magange to get here!
