Safety First

I will just leave this here for you to see why even slingshots are dangerous. If blood bothers you, don't watch this...

Gun Violence and Gun Control

I saw this graphic over at The Hayride and thought it was nice and sharable:

The Walking Dead Wants Gun Owners

M
I saw over at GUNS.COM that my favorite TV show is looking for extras that are experienced gun owners.

I can understand this desire.

If you need to train a mass amount of extras it would save them a pile of time if the people had a basic competence.

It would sure be a whole lot safer. Even though, I do know a few dumb asses that will always sweep the crowd.

Here is the link from Project Casting.

The Grey Man Series Book 3: Changes

Summer reading has arrived:

When Texas Deputy Sheriff John Cronin thwarts the Cartel’s plan to get paid to smuggle Muslims across the border, he becomes the target of the Cartel once again. One try fails, but the cartel isn’t about to give up. With his granddaughter, Jesse, still recovering from her last run-in with the Cartel and now far away with her Marine husband on a military base, Cronin only has to worry about the innocents around him. One way or another, this old school law man plans to end this cat and mouse game for good. But, this time, the Cartel is playing for keeps; ending this war might just cost the old man his life. Either way Cronin plans to go out on his feet, fighting tooth and nail.

J.L. Curtis is the owner of the Nobody Asked Me blog and a really great guy. Spread the word. Anyone that enjoys shooting will enjoy this series. Actually, anyone that enjoys ready will too!

Random Tuesday

Went shooting with a newbie. It was her second time and we shot rifles this time. We started with a basic Savage Mark II bolt action .22 with a scope. Then she shot my Colt AR15. She loved it. The recoil is light. After she figured out the sight pattern she did really well. She'll be back.

Dylan Roof is a Racist. That is what a racist looks like. The next time you hear someone called a racist because they disagree with the President, remind them what a real racist looks like. This guy also hated America. Photos of him stomping on the flag and even burning it say a lot. Please don't lump this asshole in with people other than white supremacists. I will point and laugh at the next person that calls him a typical Republican. This asshole is a perfect fit for the Death Penalty.

I still don't care about Deflategate.

I have a book signing for Still Falling, scheduled for noon on July 11th at Prospero's Books in Oldtown Manassas VA.

This mornings coffee is magnificent. You should be jealous.

It's only Tuesday. I have though it was Wednesday twice already this morning.

My wife and I are planning a trip to Kings Dominion. Without kids.

--Heading to work. Be safe out there.

New Shooters

Tonight I am going to the range with a new shooter.

This is a newbie that I have taken to the range on a previous occasion to shoot hand guns.

She loved it.

Now she is back and wants to try a rifle. AR-15s are great choice because the recoil is so light.

I will also take one of my Ruger 10/22s to start with. I am sure will love the AR.

--I am also interest to see how the injured arm functions.

Remember that car wreck...

I mentioned on Saturday that I was in a car wreck. Apparently I was not as uninjured as I thought.

I spent today in various doctors offices. It turns out I have a ruptured bicep tendon.

Joy.

Basically, When I clenched the wheel and stiffened up just prior to impact I broke a main cable in my arm.

My wife says I now have a Popeye arm!

--Good thing it ain't my shootin arm!

Range Trip

On Saturday I went to the range with T-Bolt and got to fire his Springfield 1911 that he just finished tuning up.

He has been getting formal gunsmith training and based on that gun, it has paid off!

The sights and the trigger on that thing are excellent now.

The trigger is like butter.

The whole gun is super tight and smooth.

The target on the right was at 21 feet and I put 14 rounds into it.

--I was pleased.

Car Accident

Last night I was taking wife out to dinner last night and while slowing to turn left we got rear ended by a freshly graduated college student that had all per possessions packed in her car.

Our car, a Chevy, was fine. Scratched up, bumper damaged, but still drivable. Gets fixed on Tuesday. Super fast Geico/State Farm response.

Her car, a Nissan, was not drivable.

The police came and he was very professional. Excellent communications skills for such a young officer.

I desperately wanted to ask him why he had a Serpa holster.

I was under the impression that Law Enforcement agencies had moved away from them.

--We were only 2 hours late for dinner. At least it wasn't crowded.

Hide in plain sight

I always like hidden solutions.

--Just remember, this may require a concealed carry permit.

Random Tuesday

Incredibly busy week at work this week.

My book, Still Falling, is still doing well. I got a call from someone last night after I was in bed, that was basically, "You wrote a book and didn't tell me?!"

I went to the gun show last weekend and to the range twice!

I bought 1000 rounds of .223 and I have so many mags, I still have empty mags. I need another case.

I could not find any subsonic 300 Blackout in case quantities. All the single boxes were more than a dollar a round.

I found a lot .22LR available for about $.10 a round. In quantity as well.

--Coffee is ready.

Range Weekend

I ended up at the range on both Saturday and Sunday!

Saturday is was the 100 yard indoor ranger at ESS and then on Sunday it was handguns in the 25 yard bay.

We tried out a new PMAG for Glock 9mms. The one we tested ran about 100 rounds, through 2 different Glock 17s.

--It ran flawless. Thumbs up for the initial test.

Gun Show

I am heading out to the Nations Gun Show in a few minutes.

Today's mission is ammo.

I need subsonic .300 Blackout, .45 ACP and the ever elusive .22LR.

I will be heading to the range tomorrow and I will be testing out the new MAGPUL GL9 magazines in my Glock 17.

I will post what I think on Monday.

--Gotta go, there is coffee that needs drinking!

AR-15 Basics

I still get questions about AR-15s from folks that think that they are too complicated. Here is a vid that will give you a quick overview.

--It's good to review your basics.

Fun Show

It's the Nations Gun Show again this weekend! June 5,6 and 7 at the Dulles Expo Center. Check out their new website while you're at it!

I need Ammo!

I also need me some beef jerky and really expensive hot dogs and sodas!

I will be buying a mess of .223 and .45 because I have been shooting a lot of it lately. If I can for a case of subsonic .300 Blackout that would be cool as well.

Anyone else going?

Let me know if I should bring copies of my book, Still Falling! Who am I kidding? I always have a case of them in my car now!

--Maybe I should bring a hand truck. Ammo is heavy and I am old...

Vince Vaughn is OK by me

Vince is OK by me
This was running around Facebook, Glenn Beck and the Internet today from Vince Vaughn.

"I support people having a gun in public full stop, not just in your home. We don’t have the right to bear arms because of burglars; we have the right to bear arms to resist the supreme power of a corrupt and abusive government. It’s not about duck hunting; it’s about the ability of the individual. It’s the same reason we have freedom of speech. It’s well known that the greatest defence against an intruder is the sound of a gun hammer being pulled back,” Vaughn said.

“All these gun shootings that have gone down in America since 1950, only one or maybe two have happened in non-gun-free zones. Take mass shootings. They’ve only happened in places that don’t allow guns. These people are sick in the head and are going to kill innocent people. They are looking to slaughter defenceless human beings. They do not want confrontation. In all of our schools it is illegal to have guns on campus, so again and again these guys go and shoot up these f***ing schools because they know there are no guns there. They are monsters killing six-year-olds.”

“Banning guns is like banning forks in an attempt to stop making people fat. Taking away guns, taking away drugs, the booze, it won’t rid the world of criminality,” he said.

--I loved him in Mr. and Mrs. Smith!

Random Monday

I got to meet Michael Biehn this weekend at Awesome Con in DC.

I got to talk with him for a few minutes. Really cool guy in person.

He has been in some of my favorite films. Here is the links from IMFDB.com:
Those are just a few of his many projects.

--He's even reading my book!
