The Scorpion

I bought this firearm 25 years ago. It was very inexpensive and we had a lot of fun way back then chasing cans with this guy. it was a great plinker. I wish it was full auto. I could afford that!

It is an Intratec TEC 22 Scorpion. It uses Ruger 10/22 mags. The original TEC-22 variant featured a threaded barrel and a 25-round magazine. The barrel's threading is 1/2-20 and allows a barrel extension or other accessories to be attached. A small, knurled nut threads onto the barrel to protect the threading.

At the gun show last weekend I saw one that was fit with a suppressor. So I pulled this guy out of the safe. I have not shot this guy in many years because I could not find a gunsmith to fit the broken firing pin.

--I will take this by my new gun smith for a revisit!

I always wanted one of those things.

Get it tuned up, put on some decent sites, and add it to the SHTF Bag.

That is an original, pre AWB version.

According to my 1995 edition of the Gun Digest, the MSRP of the Intratec Tec-22T was $161, or $183.50 with the Tec-Kote finish. But you still have to get the firing pin fixed. Factor that dollar amount, then see what the going rate is across the country on the "Guns for Sale" sites, then price/insure accordingly.

Now I know there's a small Collectors Market for it's Big Brother, the Tec-9, but the last Tec-22 I saw at the gun show up in my neck of the woods about a year ago had a tag of $300.

If the price has exploded, take the money and run. But just because it's pre-AWB doesn't mean that it automatically has a Huge Premium. Some of the so-called Assault Rifles out there that were pre-AWB are costing an Arm and a Leg. For example, there's an Israeli Galiel Heavy Barrel with all the goodies down at an Akron Gun Shop that has a $3,500 tag on it. But I just don't think the Intratecs will fetch that kind of Bucks. But YMMV, of course.

Saw one last week for $300.

I do kinda want one... I've got lots of 10/22 mags laying around.

With a suppressor, the right sling and the new Ruger long mags that thing should be awesome.

I saw one at a gun show with a picitinny rail on top modification. that and a holoscope would be great.

Is that a 1/2 by 20 or 1/2 by 28 thread? I have seen most of the .22 barrels threaded in 1/2 28
