Christmas weekend at the range

I went to the range this weekend with my son. It was incredibly crowded. We had about a 45 minute wait. Lots of people with new guns!

He was enjoying his gift. I gave him a Ruger Mini-14 that has an upgraded stock, a dot scope and a LASER sight.

I was amused by his comments:
  •  "This thing has no recoil at all."
  • "The adjustable stock is great!"
  • "I need new glasses."
  • "With this scope I need some Zombie targets."

It took us no time at all to pump 300 rounds through that rig. His smiles were big.

--I am very jealous of his new Pelican case!

Running Late! Random Tuesday!

I own two guns that I would like to add a front grip.

I will be doing the paperwork this week for AOWs for the two of them. One is an AR15 pistol and the other is a Tec-22 Scorpion.

Both currently have angle grips.

It doesn't cost much,

--It's just a PITA.

Gun Porn

This weeks gun porn was seen at the Nations Gun Show everywhere for prices under $600. This is your basic S&W MP15.

Random Tuesday

I saw some of this hidden compartment furniture at the Nations Gun Show a couple weeks ago. Nice but pricey.

Speaking of the gun show. It has gotten bigger. Another room has been added that is the size of a gymnasium, but it was still really crowded.

I also saw bulk quantities of subsonic .300 Blackout. Cheaper on-line still, even with shipping.

My 19 year old son asked if a shotgun was a possible Christmas gift. I'm still smiling.

--Time to go to work.

Emotions vs Facts

The President gave another big speech about gun control.

It was a total emotional case because they know the facts do not follow they case.

They want to add everyone on the terror watch list to the no-buy list. No mention was made regarding the desire of some to label all NRA members as terrorists.

The facts are that gun violence and crime in general has been falling for decades. This is happening even though gun sales have skyrocketed. It also does not help their case because areas with concealed carry and the least gun control have very low crime.

--So they beg to think of the children.

Christmas

My son is 19 years old and I am thinking it's time for Santa to bring him a rifle.

I won't mention what kind of rifle but I am also going to get him a Pelican Case to store and transport.

A cleaning kit is on the list as well.

--I am very excited about this!

Hunting

Warm, but not this warm thank god!
I went hunting this weekend. All I saw was squirrels. They frolicked in a dance that mocked me. They were saying you have an excellent blind but no targets...

It was really warm. A beautiful sunrise.

It was 46 degrees at 5:30am and 66 at 11:00am.

--I guess the deer decided to sleep in.

Hunting

I went hunting again on Sunday. Did I mention that hunting is now allowed in Virginia on Sundays?

It was a beautiful day to watch the sunrise. The temps were warm and in the 40s at dawn. With my new clothes I was nice and warm. I hunt in a county that allows the season to go through March 27 this year. They forgot to update my favorite map.

Net time out will be Black Friday!

--Any deer I get now will be for friends.

Heading out to the Nations Gun Show as soon asI can find my pants.

Fuck You Cancer

I had a shitty day yesterday.

My brothers widow has cancer. It had been in remission for several years. Every six months I take her in for review of her scans just in case. Usually she is in and out and we are high fiving and going out to lunch.

Not this time.

Her cancer is back and aggressive, in three places. I got her sorted out with appointments for a PET scan and a surgeon, drove her home and settled with her daughter to care for her.

Be advised: I have little tolerance today for whiners, trigger warnings, offended pussies, or stupid hippies that don't realize how fucking stupid they are.

--If I could, I'd stay home today. I would be safer for the world...

Targets

The availability of practical targets these days seem to be coming back.

A wave of political correctness hit a while back. Targets silhouettes suddenly had to be blue in stead of black.  Targets that actually looked like people at all were being discouraged.

Zombie targets seemed to turn the tide.

Printable targets are now widely available now as well.

I like this target.

--Making a wide eyed O-face in the bad guy is fun.

:o

Solvent Traps?

This reminds me of the SBR Not-A-Shoulder-Stock for AR-15 pistols. This is Not-A-Suppressor set of parts. It even comes with a pilot hole jig.

--How about we just take suppressors off the NFA list. Or just eliminate the list.

Hunting Season Opens

Today is opening day of  deer hunting season (shotgun) in Virginia.

Twelve minutes after dawn I harvested this nice little eight pointer.

By 7:30am I was washed up and drinking coffee in my sisters kitchen.

I had a knew knife and I was amazed the ease it cut through the rib-cage, sternum to collar in one slice. It was a K-Bar my wife gave me for Christmas last year. The only problem I had with the field cleaning was my rubber gloves had dried out, so I just worked with bare hands. Not too messy.

This one was big enough to have professional butchering done. That makes my wife happy. It keeps my kitchen from looking like a crime scene. I am a better hunter than a butcher. Just sayin.

--It was a good day, tater.

All .40s

Beretta Cx4
Went to the range last night and dusted off some guns that have not been fired in over a year.

I took .40 stuff for an easy shoot.

All my .40s are Berettas.

I took the following:
  • 96D
  • Px4
  • Cx4
The Px4 and Cx4 take the same magazines. Very handy.

I was on the 50yard range and the Cx4 with an EOTech is a tack driver. The trigger on the thing need some work though. I have been shooting a lot of guns recently that have triggers smooth as butter.

--Very relaxing hour.

Evening Shoot

I am going to start a new routine this week. I am going to the range on Thursday evenings.

I have an annual membership at Elite Shooting Sports so there is no range fee.

I am going to be taking some guns this week that I have not been shooting much recently.

I will enjoy going by myself, taking my time, focusing on one or two firearms.

And one will always be a .22LR. I have several that need the dust knocked off.

--I will also be rocking the MP3 feature of my fancy muffs!

Cruz vs The Morons

Don't you just love it when nimrods that know absolutely nothing about the simplest firearm on the market.

A break action shotgun has few moving parts and a very simple action.

Apparently it has more moving parts than some ijits mouse finger in order to do a bit a fact finding before making a fool of themselves.

--Good times. If Ted gets the nomination, he has my vote.

Cars

I currently drive a Chevy HHR but plan on buying a new car soon.

I discovered that I have a requirement that will limit my selections.

My largest rifle case must fit inside!

I am actually considering a Crown Vic. Comfy ride and lots of room.

--My case fits neatly in the back seat.

Random Thursday

Today is going to be sunny and 72 and I have to work, dammit.

Bloomberg is dumping his cash into the Virginia. He doesn't seem to be focusing on gun issues. In fact, I believe that stating in his ads that the opponent was given an A rating from the NRA is back firing.

A $175 million dollar blimp escaped yesterday. It dragged a 6700 foot steel cable along behind it. It knocked out power for about 20,000 people. Someone is sooo fired.

Another Republican debate last night. Not all Trump.

--I need to get to the range. Bad.
