2014 Random Year in Review

I finished writing a scifi novel. It was my my second. Now I just need to get the first one published.

I started to get serious about Photography again. I would like to have monthly photo sessions with shooters.

I attended the NRA Convention in Indy. I became a Lifetime member while I was there.

The Elite Shooting Sports range opened 4 miles from me. It has 42 shooting lanes including ten that are 100 yards in doors.

I started Weekly Comic Wednesdays! My new weekly comic called Brothers and Other Debacles is turning out to be my most high traffic day!

I built two AR15's. One is an SBR. One is an awesome shooter. The other is still having issues.

This year I got to shoot a .50 BMG, a full auto UZI, and a belt fed full auto M-60!

I took another half a dozen new shooters to the range.

I bought a new Remington 700 in .308 with a suppressor and a very sweey scope.

I was able to attend two live tapings of Gun Gurus!

This year I believe Police militarization has peeked. Hopefully the pendulum will swing back to Andy Griffith.

I went to 4 gun shows, but I still have not found .22LR in quantity at a good price.

My Son graduated high school, turned 18 and started college! Two Kids in college!

My wife had her gall bladder out. She is doing well now. She goes to the new range often now!

I bought two suppressors and I am still waiting for the paperwork from the ATF.

The Church I had attended for over 20 years became a gun free zone. I resigned my membership.

I am at this day about 40 pounds lighter than this time last year. My health is better and my injuries all repaired.

--2015 is looking pretty good!

Christmas Crowds

My wife and I went to the Elite Shooting Sports range again this weekend with a couple friends. This trip was the very first time that we had to wait for a lane.

Granted, it was 1pm on a Saturday. That seems like it will me the most popular time of the week.

The place was crowded by the post Christmas people! People must have been very good this year and gotten new guns for Christmas!

--An annual range membership would be great present!

Range Day

The wife and I are going to the Range today.

Range trips are turning into social events at the ESS Range. The cafe there is serving BBQ!

Four ranges and Forty Two lanes of holiday cheer! I expect that the place will be crowded because a ton of people were very good this year and Santa delivered a record number of Glocks and AR15s.

The wife will be practicing her Ruger GP100. I will run a box through my daily carry Glock 17 and will also take one of my .22LR rifles for a bit of fixed 4x fun.

--Next weekend is the Nations Gun Show and I need AMMO!!

Random Thought Friday

There is coffee that needs drinking.
Tuesday I noticed a crack in my windshield. It's about 18 inches long and I have no idea how or when it happened. It's covered by insurance and the guy is actually coming here and will fix it in my driveway.

I am not working today. Five day weekends are so nice.

I got a big pile of movies from Santa. I watched four of them yesterday. Expendables 3 has been the most gun rich of the films so far. What's funny is Jet Li had top billing and had about five minutes of screen time. Of course, one my BluRay players died. I'll probably buy another one today. First World Problems.

My wife bought me slippers. They are camo. I can't find them.

It was really nice to see my daughter for Christmas. She wanted to go to the range but it was closed today.

The Interview opened to sold out theaters near me yesterday. I didn't see it. But it's a nice Fuck You to NK.

--Coffee time. Happy Super Excellent Friday!

Merry Christmas

I just wanted to take a break and simply wish everyone a very Merry Christmas.

I hope your day is is full of joy and ease, relaxation and what ever brings you happiness.

For me it will be full of family, good food, music, holiday movies, good friends, good drink, laughter, and joy! Perhaps naps.

--Peace.

The Stupidest Gun Control PSA Ever Made

These assholes cannot win the gun control debate straight up with the facts so they resort to bullshit like this.

So this PSA basically encourages kids to steal their parents firearm and bring it to school, loaded, into a Gun Free Zone, and give to to a teacher. Imagine what would happen to him if other kids were to learn that he had it. What if he was found with it by security?

There are so many crimes here I don't know where to start. Maybe I do. If that was a real firearm used for this and that was a real school and it was actually a Gun Free Zone, the producers and directors of this "PSA" should be hunted down and arrested.

-- If anyone is hurt because of this, or one gun stolen by a child, they should be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.

It's Monday

Running late today but I am taking time to drink some coffee and do some blogging.

We have managed to survive another year without massive attacks from self aware killer robots or progressive politicians.

I have started compiling my personal Year in Review post. Maybe I should also write a post about the things that did NOT happen this year:
  • Zombie Apocalypse
  • Killer Robot Uprising
  • Shrinking Government
Everyone keeps telling me that all these things are pure fiction and I should just stop talking about them.

--I say they all MIGHT happen. Odds are about the same for each...

Ruger BX 25 Trigger Upgrade

The same guys that brought my favorite mags and the 10/22 Takedown now have a new trigger for the 10/22.  It's smooth and only draws about 2.5 pounds.

I will probably be getting two of these.

This vid shows you how to drop it in!

--It's almost Christmas!!

870 Bullpup

http://www.bullpupunlimited.com/
I'm thinking of converting my Remington 870 to to this Bullpup configuration.

The 870 in my 7th favorite shotgun in my safe. Being number 7 is not a good slot. So that makes it prime for trades or wild modifications.

Random Thought Tuesday

A friend emailed the pic to the right. I know its silly. I know the ballistics are whacked. I know it's not comfy to shoot. I still want one.

Don't judge me.

My daughter turns 21 years old tomorrow. She wants to go to the range on her Birthday. Then take me to a bar and buy me a drink.

New Chapters will begin.

My sons car is in the shop getting it's windshield replaced. He had his first fender bender last week. We may be car shopping soon. I hate car shopping.

My Christmas shopping is not done yet. My List, for me, is done (See pic).

--Now I need more coffee.

Trends they don't like

This weekend was the two year anniversary of the Sandy Hook tragedy. Since Newtown, the national trend has actually been toward weaker gun control laws. The places that pasted greater restrictions as a knee jerk reaction have seen crime actually on the rise a bit

Polls even now indicate that protecting gun rights is more important to Americans than gun control. I actually don't care much about polls.

The gun control groups just keep talking and proving their efforts don't work with their own words. They are currently screaming that "95 more school shootings have happened since Sandy Hook". They don't realize that they are actually saying "Gun Free Zone laws totally failed 95 times since Sandy Hook!" If you just take a few seconds and  look close at those shootings Most are drug and gang related. This paints them further with the willful ignorance brush.

They keep saying basically that the only way to stop this is to magically disappear ALL the mean scary guns. Or. Maybe... have good guys with guns on site. Which of these do you think is possible?

A few people are actually beginning to think, "Hey, maybe we have a Crazy People Control problem." Then the gun controllers hear this and say, "Anyone that wants to own a gun is mentally ill!"

We protect our President with guns.
We protect our celebrities with guns.
We protect our banks with guns.
We protect our TV stations with guns.
We protect our highways with guns.
We protect Children with a "Gun Free Zone" sign.

--America is waking up to this fact. I already have coffee made.

Holiday Visitors

Tis the season!
Today we are having our annual Christmas open house.

Basically I get to sit around and drink coffee, feed people cookies and answer the door when the bell rings.

My wife spends all day giving people tour of the decorated house while kids try to find the pickle ornament that she has hidden on each of the ten Christmas trees.

Yes. I said TEN Christmas trees.

My wife beats Martha Stewart it comes to Christmas.

She collects vintage ornament. She is an ornament Nerd. She knows all the makers and types and techniques they used. She even collects rare vintage ornaments that are made of candle wax and usually never survive even one summer in the attic.

What does this have to do with guns?

I will be concealing one all day.

I also have about thirty ornaments that are gun related! Santa with a hunting rifle making Rudolf nervous!

--Plus I might sneak out to the range with JayG later!

Happy Friday!

DPMS HBAR
I have been doing more photography recently. I'm really enjoying it.

I think my next photo session will be outside on a nice day. Maybe as early as this weekend!

My new range allows photos in the lanes. I am hoping to get some of people actually shooting there.

I am also enjoying using Photoshop on the images to tune them up to the way I like.

--This image turned out OK but I may have manipulated it a bit too much!

Random Thought Thursday

My 18 year old son got into his first fender bender yesterday.

It was not a big deal except for my insurance rate.. Very little damage to the car he rear ended. Cops came and didn't even give him a ticket.

The front of the 1999 Subaru  was all plastic and its all busted up now.

The worse thing that happened was that the hood latch was damaged and gave way on the way home after. The hood flew up and cracked the wind shield.

Lots of lessons learned.

I had plans for a post about the joys of bayonets and upgraded AR15 grips but I am just not feeling it. So here is the pic I was going to use. Note the nice grip, 40 round mag and bayonet.

Zombies, blah blah blah...

--I need some more coffee. Need coffee bad...

Remington Recall

I have a new Remington 700 that I purchased just this rear and it has now been recalled. There are more details here.

It turns out there is a trigger problem that will cause the gun to fire without the trigger being actually pulled. Here is a video of it actually happening on one guys rifle:

--I wonder how long it will take to sort this out?

Monday Random Thoughts

Happy Monday all. I hope your coffee is as good as mine today!

I had a great weekend with friends.

It included a trip to the range. We took a wide variety of firearms for the guys to shoot. Calibers shot included: 9mm, .40, .45 and .44mag. We actually had more than one firearm of each kind. It was mostly handguns but I also took a couple pistol caliber carbines: Beretta CX4 and my Roni Glock 21 SSBR.

After the range trip we enjoyed good steaks, beers, bourbon, Archer episodes and a couple movies. We watched Expendables 2 and Sabotage. Good gun filled flicks!

I am really enjoying having a formal Bench work area to clean guns and reload mags. I now have a computer and a dock for my iPhone! Perfect for music or audio books while I am working.

Next up for range time I am going to sight in several rifles.

--Big fun. Love having the new range so close.

Oath Keepers in Ferguson

Armed Oath Keepers have advised St. Louis County Police
through their attorney that they have every right to guard
rooftops of Ferguson businesses that want them there,
and have refused to stand down.

Armed members of the Oath Keepers continue to remain on the roofs of businesses that have requested their protection.

It's working. Go Figure.

Looters are cowards. The biggest cowards of all the thieves. If they think they might get an ass full of lead while trying to carry away the big screen TV, they will stay away.

--I hate looters.

Long damn day

Left the house before o-dark-thirty. Had no time for bloggin today.

Will return to my regular shenanigans on Friday!

PMAGs

I scored some more 40 round PMAGs for a good price.

Availability that was null, not so long ago, is now back to adequate levels.

What do you think will cause the next drought in the market? I am sure there will be one. Will it be the run up to the next election? Will it be caused by the election results? Will it be caused by another shooter going postal? Will it be caused by the Killer Robot Uprising? Maybe even the pending Zombie Apocalypse?

Anyway, the time to fix the roof is when the sun is shining. And it's shining very, very bright in Virginia right now.

--Buy your guns now. Buy Mags, ammo, but leave the .22LR for me!  Please!

Great Weekend

Andie and my AR15 SBR
It was a really nice weekend.

I went to the range four times. Mostly because I was trying to work out the stove pipe problem with my SBR. I tried a weaker buffer spring and it was not that. An adjustment of the depth the buffer tube made it a bit better but not perfect. I am now starting to thing that it may be very picky about ammo. Frankly I am about ready to replace the entire upper.

It was great to have the range just 4 miles away. I was able to just swing in for a quick test.

I also went hunting on Saturday. Didn't see a thing. It was a nice morning in the woods.

I also set up my photography studio and took some photos with a friend and my firearms. Here is the first from this batch of photos. It was really fun. It makes me want to get better backdrops! I added the K-Bar for JayG!

--Need more coffee before this Monday begins...
