Blunderbuss

MikeW and the Blunderbuss
I unfortunately had to miss the the Flintlock 3-Gun Blogshoot this weekend.

It's really too bad because I have always wanted a Flintlock Blunderbuss.

I have the perfect mantle for a Blunderbuss.

Here is a pic of my friend MikeW about to fire the Blunderbuss.

--I hope this becomes a regular event!

What I have been up to lately

This really isn't a post about guns it's about the shooters health. I have been offline so much of late because I have been recovering from back surgery. To be perfectly honest, going in I didn't think it was going to be this big a deal. But as my friend Breda put it, "I lived."

Lumbar Fusion of L4, L5 and S1
Hopefully this will allow me to take to the field again for some deer hunting before the season is over.

--I still may make TBolt do all the heavy lifting!

Government Shutdown

The Fed shutdown yesterday.

I wonder how many days this will delay my ATF SBR forms for my Suppressed Glock 21 Roni rig?

The last shutdown was during the Clinton administration and lasted 21 days!

The setup pictured on the right is basically the way I plan to configure my Roni carbine once I get the paperwork back! I think my suppressor will probably stick out a few inches farther. I already have the EOTech for this rig waiting in the box in the safe.

This rig will be reliable and quiet. It should be a lot of fun to shoot.

--I have to admit that by the time I am finished configuring it, I will have spent a lot of money on this rig. That will make a good future post.

WANT: Bushmaster ACR

I have to update my want list.

Magpul created an update for the standard AR15 called a Masada.

It takes the best concepts from the long standing AR15 and eliminates the issues that always bugged me.

The most notable design change is that the stock no longer contains the spring tube allowing it to have many more configuration options like folding stocks and pistol grip configurations.

The second major design change is the location of the charging handle. The new location is way easier to work and is nicely ambidextrous.  In fact all the controls are ambidextrous, also including the safety and mag release.

The Bushmaster ACR is the first production version of the Masada.

Toolless dis-assembly is quick and easy. You can even change the barrel fast with no tools.

--Pricey but it's now on my list.

Bushmaster 25mm Cannon

I was just reading about the Bushmaster Chain Gun Cannon. This bad boy comes in 25mm or 30mm.

This thing is crazy.

I find it while surfing the web looking at killer robots. This monster is very versatile and can me used in automated sentries on fixed locations, in ground vehicles, on boats and even aircraft.

Crazy reliable because of simple design. Fed chain gun style. It comes in 25mm or 30mm in a variety of rounds including advanced airburst types.

This thing can automatically target out to 2 miles. Optical, LASER, motion and even manual, remote.

--Not expected to be seen at a gun show anytime soon though!

Demonization of Firearms Continues

I read this ridiculous article yesterday.

School expels kids who played with airsoft gun on private property.

In a nutshell there was some little kids playing Cops and Robbers, Cowboys and Indians, Army or FBI and Terrorists or Mall cops and Zombies. What ever the game of the day is.

A neighbor called the cops. Even though the neighbor know the guns were toys, they made the neighbor was "Made Unconfortable". The cops took no action when they arrived. The boys were playing on private property.

So she called the school board because there was a bus stop 70 yards away.

There has to be more to this story. A long term neighbor feud. Personal vendettas. or some other kind of assholery.

--What the hell is wrong with these people?

Terry McAuliffe Should not be Elected!

Virginia gubernatorial candidate Terry McAuliffe's (D) website was updated Monday to show his commitment to bring Colorado-like gun control to the commonwealth.

From his own Website:

"Support common sense gun control measures - As Governor, Terry will support mainstream and majority supported gun control measures like universal background checks, limiting the size of magazines, and a return to the 1-gun-per-month rule. These measures respect Virginians’ right to bear arms while reducing gun violence."

Breitbart has a good article I would like to echo to all the gun owners in VA.

I didn't like the guy for a lot of other reasons as well. But this is a gun blog.

--DO NOT VOTE for this guy, please.

Got an Email From My Wife

My wife saw this image somewhere and had to email me. Her major comment was, "Hey, this has your favorite Thermos!"

It turns out I actually have about 32 of these items...

--How many do you have?

I'm back

I hope to begin regular posts again tomorrow. I hear there was another failure of Gun Free Zones and a massive suck and fail of the media again. I missed a great Blogger Shoot. Pile of other stuff.

Just want to let both of my readers know.

--I Lived.

Be Back Later

I will be off line for a few days. I'm sending the body to the shop for a few repairs!

--I will post when I can. Hopefully by Friday! Wish me luck!

Quotes of the Week

"A man's rights rest in three boxes: the ballot box, the jury box, and the cartridge box."
- Frederick Douglass

"No Kingdom can be secured otherwise than by arming the people. The possession of arms is the distinction between a freeman and a slave."
- James Burgh

"Good intentions will always be pleaded for every assumption of authority. It is hardly too strong to say that the Constitution was made to guard the people against the dangers of good intentions. There are men in all ages who mean to govern well, but they mean to govern. They promise to be good masters, but they mean to be masters."
- Daniel Webster

"Firearms are second only to the Constitution in importance; they are the peoples' liberty's teeth."
- Author Unknown

"The philosophy of gun control: Teenagers are roaring through town at 90MPH, where the speed limit is 25. Your solution is to lower the speed limit to 20."
- Sam Cohen (inventor of the neutron bomb)

"The tragic history of civilian disarmament cries a warning against any systematic attempts to render innocent citizens ill-equipped to defend themselves from tyrant terrorists, despots or oppressive majorities,"
- Daniel Schmutter

"If the constitutional right to keep and bear arms is to mean anything, it must, as a general matter, permit a person to possess, carry and sometimes conceal arms to maintain the security of his private residence or privately operated business."
- David Prosser (Wisconsin Supreme Court justice)

WANT: 300 Blackout SBR Upper

Since my SBR was approved I have been thinking. Always trouble. I have a spare lower and a pistol piston that I was using prior to my SBR approval. Now that I do have my approved SBR Lower I have been thinking about getting an 300 Blackout SBR Upper. It would be interchangeable between the lowers. All the other pieces remain unmodified. They would even use the same mags:

I am trying to decide which one to buy. Here is the leading contender so far:

Advanced Armament Co (AAC) AR-15 Pistol A3 Flat-Top Upper Assembly 300 AAC Blackout (7.62x35mm) 1 in 7" Twist 9" Barrel with KAC URX III Modular Free Float Quad Rail Handguard, Blackout Flash Hide.

This is the size and feature set I want.

--Any recommendations from my readers?  Either of you?

Background Checks

This is exactly why the background check process is hosed:

Criminal Investigation of Joseph Morrissey

I was reading in the Washington Post that Joseph Morrissey, a member of the Virginia House of Delegates representing the 74th District, is under criminal investigation for a relationship with a minor.

Morrissey is the prick that was waving an AK47 around as he was ranting on the House floor advocating for more gun control.

This pattern repeats over and over again. Smarmy politicians, Democrats mostly, that can't keep their pants on calling and for gun control.

I think it is because these people don't think people can be trusted with firearms because they wouldn't trust themselves with them. Because they are NOT trust worthy themselves.

--Calling for gun control should invoke and automatic investigation in them for corruption.
