Guns on Sherlock

Sherlock and his gun as usual
I have just finished binge watching the BBC TV series Sherlock.

It really struck me how the show depicts the casual use and possession of firearms by civilians in the UK. It also shows Sherlock casually firing a handgun at a smile face he drew on the wall  because he is bored.

The villains are armed all the time. The super villains have teams of snipers with suppressed high power rifles all over London.

So many problems are solved by firearms. Doctor Watson even kills a guy and walks away, never admitting it.

I love that show.

--The BBC really seems to Love guns.

"We cannot afford to differ on the question of honesty if we expect our republic permanently to endure. Honesty is not so much a credit as an absolute prerequisite to efficient service to the public. Unless a man is honest, we have no right to keep him in public life; it matters not how brilliant his capacity."

Christmas Guns

We are having an open house today. We do it every Christmas season. My wife loves Christmas. It's her favorite time of year. Me too, but not like her!

This year we have 9, yes I said 9, beautiful Christmas Trees!

Every year she gets me new ornaments that have guns in them.

We will have a whole tree one day that is all gun related ornaments! Next to the vintage camper ornament theme tree...

--Merry Christmas Season!

WANT: TNW 9mm Carbine

Happy Friday the 13th!!

I am lovin pistol caliber carbines these days. I got the JR Carbine which is still suffering from constant jamming, still. I have the Roni conversion kit that is sooo sweet. And this weekend I got to handle a TNW Carbine. The one I was looking at was 9mm and took Glock magazines. I have a ton of mags for my Glock 17 already, including three 33 round Glock factory mags!

TNW Carbine

--The street price I saw at Clark Brothers was $699. Might have to get one!

Sales are up

I went to the range at Clark Brothers last weekend with TBolt to air out my freshly built .300 Blackout SBR. Here are a few observations:

.300 Blackout SBR
  • My gas block is correctly aligned!
  • They had ammo (2 box limit)
  • I needed more lube, lots more
  • It took 20 rounds to get the new scope on the paper
  • No crowd at the range
  • Packed in the store, lines of people buying guns
  • No .22LR at all
I took along my suppressed 10/22 to check on the scope to make sure it was good in case any evil squirrels needed killin. It is on. Love that thing.

There was a guy in the next lane over that bought a new 10/22  that was sighting it in. They gave him one box of ammo. He was having a great time so I gave him a hundred rounds of mine in a random act of kindness.

--It was a good day all around.

NYC is Confiscating Firearms

How much more proof does the world need to prove, without a shadow of a doubt, that firearm registrations ultimate goal is confiscation.

Good Parenting

I saw this video yesterday over at SayUncle's Blog.

It's very cute. In addition to being cute it illustrates several good things.
  • Look at the trigger discipline. It makes me misty.
  • This shows how little recoil an AR15 really has.
  • Allowing a child to fire a gun in a safe controlled manner teaches them how dangerous it really is and removes the mystique of it.
  • It removes irrational fear of firearms.
  • It proves how awesome a father you actually have!

SBR Paper Work Has Arrived

The SBR paperwork finally came in for my Glock 21 Roni project!

It will be a super fun rig but in the end will be pretty damn expensive. Here is the list with basic costs:
    • $550 - Glock 21 .45ACP
    • $115 - Factory Threaded Barrel
    • $400 - RONI Carbine Kit
    • $1050 - AAC Suppressor
    • $50 - Magpul sights
    • $90 - Tactical Light
    • $100  - Three 27 Round Mags
    • $35 - Single Point Sling
    • $200 - Class III Tax for Suppressor
    • $200 - Class III Tax for Short Barrel Rifle
    Total: $ 2790

This results in a really compact, light, reliable, powerful and quiet, carbine. Great for the pending Zombie Apocalypse! But is it worth all the money?

--I will probably add a compact EOTech adding another $400.

    Mag Drought is Over

Got this photo as a text on my phone. There was no limit on how many you could buy and there was several cases.

I replied, "How much cash do you have?"

    -- He got me 10.

    Couch Safe!

A friend sent me this pic of a hidden storage option in a couch.

This is a really good option for homes that have a lot of room or people that have a lot of guns and need more and more places to stash them.

This one even has bulletproof inserts in the cushions.

Read all about it and see the video on GIZMODO!

--Let the wife pick the fabric! $7000!

    Speaking of Christmas

One of the reasons my wife does not have an issue with my gun collecting is that she is a big collector herself.

She has various collections: Vintage Barbies, PEZ Dispensers, Classic Book Series like Nancy Drew and the Hardy Boys and Christmas Ornaments.

She has so many ornaments we now have eight Christmas trees. Eight trees with a very high density of ornaments per square inch.

Some have themes as well. The kitchen tree has a food and cooking theme, we have an all vintage ornaments tree, we even have one that has campers and guns as a theme.

--Well that one has a singing pickle as well. TBolt bought it for her!

    Christmas Lists

I am starting to plan my gun room starting with what I need on a tool bench. Adding stuff to my Amazon wishlist.

I love putting together ARs and to make that easier a nice vise would be great. Amazon Prime even includes FREE delivery!

I mean a real bench vise. I have a smaller vise that you clamp down to a bench edge but it just doesn't cut it. I have a good tool box with lots of room, drawers and tools.

What else should a dedicated tool bench have?
    • Good lighting
    • Vise blocks for magwells
    • Vise clamps for lowers and uppers
    • One of those lamps with a magnifying glass

--After I get the tool bench set up I will start on a reloading bench!

    Gun Porn

Do you know the story behind this?
A friend sent me this pic over the weekend as an unusual item.

Combination 1911 and brass knuckles, er um, steel knuckles.

Creative design and probably quite collectable.

The perfect find in your grandfathers attic, wrapped in a oiled cloth.

--Now that is a knuckle sammich!
