Random Thursday.

The Blog well is feeling kind of dry this morning.

I just finished the second draft of my second book. It will be going to the beta reader team soon.

Need more coffee today, bad.

A friend of mine just bought a .300 Winchester mag. I have never shot one.

Spring pollen is super bad this year. I blame JayG.

My laptop is beginning to have problems. I hate the end-of-life issues with computers as much as with cars.

--Dammit, my car is making a noise! Oh the humanity!

Ruger American Ranch Rifle 300 Blackout

Ruger American Ranch Rifle 300 Blackout

This rifle is configured exactly the way I would want one, with a suppressor. They are also making the Mini-14 in 300 Blackout. I already have a 300 Blackout AR15 that is great.

--I will be interested in the resolution to the mag problem they had.

Tobaccology

I stopped at my local cigar  shop on Saturday and noticed a new sign on the door.

It is a good thing. The part I like best is, "Management recognizes the Second Amendment of the US Constitution as an unalienable right of all citizens."

It's too bad there is a need for this kind of thing.

--It's a good advertising ploy! I spent more!

Quotes of the Week

"If a man is compelled to work against his will for one minute or one second, for any cause...whatsoever--*that* is involuntary servitude."

Random Friday

Damn, it is cold today. It's 31, on April 24th. That is so wrong.

Tomorrow I am going to the range with a bunch of people. Followed by steak, beer, bourbon, cigars and poker. A typical Saturday, now that I think of it.

The Nations Gun Show is this weekend. I should go buy .223.

Angles of Attack by Marko Kloos is out! Go buy it.

Buy Still Falling while you are at it!

--The coffee is magical this morning. Why is there no bacon?

KSTG

On Tuesday I was in a KSTG match at the NRA HQ Range. I did way better than last time!

Kinda Sorta Tactical Game (KSTG) was created as an outlet for practical shooters to exercise defensive shooting skills and tactics in a competitive environment with minimal subjective judgments by officials.

The rules of KSTG evolved from other popular competitive shooting sports such as IPSC and IDPA. Many concepts, procedures, and naming conventions are borrowed from these sports for the sake of familiarity.

First, I managed to not get disqualified! Plus I didn't shoot any hostages! I only received one penalty for shooting the targets in one of the stages in the wrong order.

--I was way less nervous this time. Slow and sure. Big fun. And the reload practice was excellent.

KSTG Match Tonight

Tonight I am in a KSTG match at the NRA HQ Range.

The rules are an attempt to balance objectivity, common tactical principles, and fun. KSTG is not intended to serve as formal training. It’s a game. Have fun.

--This will be fun!

This is why the 4 Rules are so important:

Going Sailing

Today, I am going sailing with my brother. It will likely be an adventure. I hope we don't end up on the national news.

We have no idea what the hell we are doing. It amazes me that following all the laws of the land that today we will be taking the maiden voyage into Chesapeake Bay.

My brother had a catamaran 30 years ago the we could sail. But this boat has a 4 foot long keel. Will me ram that into something?

We did make sure the motor is in good running order. So at least we can putter out to open water, run up the sail and try not to fall over board or topple it over.

--No guns. Just in case we need rescuing! Because, Maryland!

Busy Week

It has been a crazy couple of weeks since my book has been published. I can't believe that people in Australia, UK, Greece, Canada and all over the US are reading my book.

The emails I am getting about it crack me up. They are usually demands for Book 2 or notes regarding missed commas.

Random Thought Thursday

Elite Shooting Sports has a 100 yard indoor range with video monitors on the target at 100 yards. Those monitors are all kind of awesome.

I am so very pleased with the AAC suppressor performance. But damn that thing gets hot. The heat rising from it is surreal as you look through the scope.

The trigger needs work on the Remington 700. I will need to research what I can easily do. Then take it to a pro. I want it smooth as butter.

The Leupold VX-6 Riflescope is the best scope in my collection. It spoils me.

I need to get more mags for the rifle. I currently have only one 10-round mag. I need about ten 20-round mags.

I am lucky that the thing just fits in my largest rifle case.
