S.W.A.T.

What is up with all the new SWAT teams all over the place.

The IRS is getting tactical teams? Because the Obamacare tax evader bastards are so crazed?

Tactical entry because a baby deer needed killin? Seriously?

Private teams?

--We need less SWAT and more Mayberry.

TSA and Me

I happened across an old X-Ray of my knee this week.

All those screws and the plate are still in there. The staples are not. All told it is way more metal than a box cutter.

I usually wear shorts when I travel so when I fail the metal detectors they can wand me and see the scars.

What worries me is that 60% of the time the metal detectors don't go off.

Northeast Blogshoot

Here is a great video recap of the Northeast Blogshoot.

--I really need to attend this one year! Big fun!

Friday

It's Friday, Dammit.

I am running late. I will post something after work.

Go outside...

Ammo is back

The brown truck of happiness dropped off a heavy plan box yesterday.

1000 rounds of 9mm. Price was OK. Worked ot to about $22.50 per 50 round box.

At my favorite gun shop yesterday they had 9mm, but ony 20 round boxes for $28 each.

Science Fiction Firearms

Sniper_girl_by_Imagnosisa
So I am writing a Scifi novel and it has a few characters that are trained military personnel in the future. They are well armed. I have glazed over the gun details so far but I am rapidly approaching some decisions.

Here is a list of what I need to create:
  • Sniper Rifle (.50 BMG)
  • Handguns (Glock .45)
  • Light Rig (AR-15)
  • Heavy Rig (AR-10)
All of these firearms would use Caseless ammo. Scifi optics and targeting. They would be made of materials that doesn't exist currently. They are stronger, lighter, more durable and require minimal maintenance.

The twist is that they are projectile weapons. Fire actual bullets. They are not bothered by EMP cannons designed to disable Energy Based Weapons.

--What would be good scifi features!?

Mini-Remote Killer Robot

Yet another tool in the chest of our future Killer Robot Overlords.

Available already to SWAT teams this little remote control can of quiet whoop-ass is ready to open.

Say hello to my little friend.

I want one.

--Hunting options alone amaze me! More than just paintball!

The Right Holster

I have been carrying my Glock 17 lately in my new Galco IWB holster.

I even have my 2 round mag extenders and that gives me 20 rounds of 9mm with one in the pipe. The double stack mags give you a lot of ammo but makes the gun thick.

The other holsters I have used for my Glocks have been to bulky and printed too easily. I am particular about my Glock holsters because I rely on them to control access to the trigger.

This one is comfy and keeps close. Standing, sitting, driving and walking.

--Galco Kingtuk, IWN Holster. $56 from Amazon. Silly name. Good Holster.

Quotes of the Week

"It makes my Curmudgeonly heart swell with pride. Free citizens voluntarily plunking down their own cash to legally arm themselves to the teeth. I don’t care if it’s deer guns, plinkers, bird guns, cheap mil-surp, chromed cowboy wallhangers, pistols, rifles, shotguns, or even a metric ton of tiny derringers. Any gun in the hands of a free citizen is a good one. It’s good to do things that free citizens can do. Rights must be recognized or they’re just words in a book."

--The Adaptive Curmudgeon via Tam

"I think the world is run by 'C' students."

--Al McGuire

"The shaft of the arrow had been feathered with one of the eagle's own plumes. We often give our enemies the means of our own destruction."

--Aesop, The Eagle and the Arrow

"Rejoice not at thine enemy's fall - but don't rush to pick him up either."

--Jewish Proverb

New Double Glock Conversion

Here is an interesting concept that uses a pair of glocks. From NEDG.

--Holds a lot of ammo and you can still shoot as you are reloading!

Question

Does anyone know if this was an AR15 conversion kit? A custom rig? What?

I really like it.
