During the assembly the snapping sound you hear is the sound a detent pin makes when it slips from your grasp, goes away fast enough to break the sound barrier, and then warps itself into a distant galaxy never to return.
I helped a fair number of coworkers with their builds, I gained a lot of valuable experience and it made it easier for me to rationalize buying or building some specialized tools.
