Murder Rate in the US Reaches 100 Year Low

According to FBI Stats the US violent crime rate, including the murder rate, have reached a 100 year low.

I saw this article over at SLATE.COM and was very interested to read HERE that in DC it is down over 20% since the DC vs Heller decision allowed handgun ownership again.

 --If you were to listen to the media you would think it's worse than ever.

    Would be interesting to overlay significant historical events with that time line- IE, Prohibition/ Gun Control legislation, war on drugs, etc and see if any more "unusual" correlations pop out.

    Yes, I know correlation =/= causation. But it would still be interesting..
