The U.N. Arms Trade Treaty

If you have not heard of the U.N. Arms Trade Treaty you need to start paying attention. I thought we killed this piece of crap years ago during the Bush administration. Now the President and Secretary Clinton are making an end run on the desires of the American people.

I believe the administration may know that they are in trouble this election and may try to act before the election.

Even Forbes has noticed:

The Obama administration is actively engaged in negotiations to finalize details for a new global agreement premised to fight “terrorism”, “insurgency” and “international crime syndicates”. As U.N. Secretary-General Ban Ki-Moon describes its purpose, “Our goal is clear: a robust and legally binding Arms Trade Treaty that will have a real impact on the lives of those millions of people suffering from consequences of armed conflict, repression and armed violence…It is ambitious, but it is achievable.”

Forbes continues:

On June 29, 130 Republican House members sent a letter to President Obama and Secretary Clinton arguing that the proposed treaty infringes on the “fundamental, individual right to keep and bear arms”. The letter charges that “…the U.N.’s actions to date indicate that the ATT is likely to pose significant threats to our national security, foreign policy, and economic interests as well as our constitutional rights.” The lawmakers adamantly insist that the U.S. Government has no right to support a treaty that violates the Constitution and Bill of Rights.

The problem is to meet the requirements of the treaty the Second Amendment gets gutted.

  2. Oh, the Reps know all about it, J.B. Trust me, the NRA has been warning them like White on Rice. But the Problem lies with Hillary and Obama acting as if the Treaty would be in Effect and issuing Edicts.

Remember when they decided to Attack Libya? They "Informed" the Congress under the War Powers Act by sending them a Letter through the Mail on a Friday Afternoon. Boehner found out by watching the News.

Must be nice to know that if the House ever got Balls to call for Impeachment, that the Senate wouldn't even let it come to the Floor for a Trial.

  3. I thought anything that was written had to be ratified by the senate with a 2/3 vote?

  4. Even if the Senate approves the treaty with a 2/3 vote it is still invalid if it violates the Constitution.
Of course since neither the Senate and Administration believe in the Constitution the vote is rather relevant.
I'm certain DOJ, ATF, FBI, et. al. will be acting upon the Treaty as soon as Teh 0ne signs the damn thing.
