Gun crimes drop at Virginia bars and restaurants

Well what do you know?

There was no blood in the streets. It did not become the wild west.

"Virginia's bars and restaurants did not turn into shooting galleries as some had feared during the first year of a new state law that allows patrons with permits to carry concealed guns into alcohol-serving businesses, a Richmond Times-Dispatch analysis found.

The number of major crimes involving firearms at bars and restaurants statewide declined 5.2 percent from July 1, 2010, to June 30, 2011, compared with the fiscal year before the law went into effect, according to crime data compiled by Virginia State Police at the newspaper's request."

  1. Lucky for you. Our NEW Ohio State Law says we can CC in Bars and places that sell Alcohol (i.e., AppleBees'), but we can't drink a drop. And some Cities like Cleveland are already saying that they will PREMPT the State Law, because they have "Sovereign Immunity" and "Home Rule", even though every time they try it, they lose in court. But one has to fight them in court, which means being arrested, jailed, etc. So Drink one for me!
