One of my RSS feed I read every day at work over coffee is the How-To Wiki.
A few days ago I saw an interesting article:
How to Survive a School or Workplace Shooting
"What would you do if a shooting happened in your own school or workplace? It is a scary thought, but it is something that could happen to anybody. Having some ideas about how to respond beforehand could save your life."
--Be careful out there. The Postman always rings twice.
From the guide:
ReplyDelete"If you hear gunshots and are outside, go in the opposite direction from where you heard the gunshots. Call the emergency services (911/999/112) as soon as you are far enough away. Assist other people that are fleeing the building after you call."
The office complex where I work is right next to Fairfax County Police Academy driving and shooting range. Every single day I hear gun shots outside.
Too bad the most obvious answer has been stripped away from the law-abiding: Shoot back.
ReplyDeleteReturn fire. Don't stop until he is down. Then reholster. You don't want to be mistaken as the shooter.
ReplyDeleteThese guys never expect return fire. More often than not they will kill themselves.
ReplyDeleteThat's why they pick Gun-Free zones.
Shoot back 'should' be the first option... sigh...
