Vacation Day 1

I am hitting the road in a dew minutes.

My brother is house sitting and hopefully keeping the cats alive. No big hardship for him there.

Gotta go. next post from the road!

Random Tuesday

Don't get out of your car when you are inside a Tiger enclosure.

Radical Islam asshats continue to murder people around the world.

I seriously want this Ruger Charger stock. I have no idea why I like it so much.

Why are democrats so violent?

Wikileaks exposed corruption in the DNC. The Chair was forced to resign, not because she was corrupt, but because she was caught. She was then immediately hired as Hillary's campaign Chair. Hillary does not even try to hide her corruption any more.

It is so hot here this week. Thank god for AC!

Nineteen dead in a knife attack in Japan. Ban Knives must be the solution. (Oh, and trucks BTW)

--Vacation starts Friday. Is it Friday yet?

Quotes of the Week

The rifle itself has no moral stature, since it has no will of its own. Naturally, it may be used by evil men for evil purposes, but there are more good men than evil, and while the latter cannot be persuaded to the path of righteousness by propaganda, they can certainly be corrected by good men with rifles.
― Jeff Cooper

Guns are our friends because in a country without guns, I'm what's known as "prey." All females are.
― Ann Coulter

The constitution shall never be construed...to prevent the people of the United States who are peaceable citizens from keeping their own arms.
― Alexander Hamilton

The Second Amendment is timeless for our Founders grasped that self-defense is three-fold: every free individual must protect themselves against the evil will of the man, the mob and the state.
― Tiffany Madison

The state must declare the child to be the most precious treasure of the people. As long as the government is perceived as working for the benefit of the children, the people will happily endure almost any curtailment of liberty and almost any deprivation.
― Adolf Hitler, Mein Kampf

New Holster

I have been carrying my new Glock 26 in the same holster I use for my Glock 17.

Today I picked up a new Galco IWB that I will be using the next couple weeks.

One thing I noticed right off is that while it's easy to draw from this holster, re-holstering quickly is difficult.

This actually does not matter much to me because I never draw my gun out in the world.

--Needs a little sweat to break it in. It's going to be 100 degrees tomorrow.

Heat

This weekend is going to be VERY HOT. 100 degrees and awful humidity.

I am going to stay inside or the pool at very least.

It is always more difficult to conceal carry when it's hot. I have a fanny-pack dork dad looking rig that is my usual solution.

--That's right, a fanny pack. Don't judge.

My New Daily Carry

Glock 26
I had been shopping around for a new daily carry and finally settled on the Glock 26.

I walked into my favorite shop yesterday and the had the exact model I was looking for.

I love Virginia. I was in and out in 15 minutes. Easy as could be.

I will be getting some of the specialty magazines that give you an extra finger worth a grip.

I also like that it will that the same mags as my Glock 17, even the 33 round versions. Because, you know... Zombies.

--Now to find a nice threaded barrel.

Random Tuesday

I have been coming up dry with blog fodder of late. I have not gone to the range either in a month. I thing I can solve both of these issues at once.

The Republican Nation Convention has begun. The biggest thing they are talking about is the speech of Trumps wife.

I am looking for a new daily carry and I think It will be a Glock 26. Getting all the way into the Glock bed for my utility guns.

--Off to work.

Writers and Guns

I read another book this week written by someone that knows little about guns. I was amazed at this one because it was Stephen King.

It was a really good story but made the classic mistake of Clicking the Safety On when the gun was a Glock. If they would not have mentioned Glock I would have presumed it was a 1911 or something else with a manual safety.

In my writers group a scene we were reviewing and three shotgun blasts, in a small kitchen, and the sound was described as "Pop".

Books and movies rarely detail how loud guns are. Especially in closed spaces. I remember a scene in The Walking Dead where Rick fires his .357 inside an enclosed tank. BANG, hearing gone with a high pitched whine.

911 was down

Woke up to the news story that the regional 911 system in Maryland is down.

Yet another reason to be serious about defending yourself.

It wasn't the first time and will not be the last time. "The system is fragile."

--Another reason to not live in MD.

Every History Museum has a Gun

I was in the Buffalo History Museum yesterday and saw this gun.

It is a replica of the one used to assassinate President William McKinley in Buffalo.

It is so very ironic.

Even after all the harsh gun control laws imposed recently in NY State, this type of gun is still unrestricted.

Gatherings

A strange thing happened last night when we went to see the fireworks.

A Swarm.

I never heard this term before. We were seeing fireworks with my friends family at the University of Buffalo campus. We had attended several times before. But this time a large crowd of people began to form in a park below us. A few dozen turned into a few hundred, and then a thousand.

It was mostly college students, mostly male and this crowd was drawing more in like gravity.
We heard a cop behind us say into his radio, "This does not look good." Slowly more police began to arrive by bicycle, on foot, in golf carts and cars.

Their tone turned alarming.

We heard people refer to the crowd as, "The Swarm". Struggles ensued in the crowd, cops wrestled people to the ground and cuffed them as the crowd screamed at them. The crowd was on the verge of becoming a mob.

We contingency planned an evacuation. If that waving flag began to burn, if there were shots fired, if the crowd became a mob... we'd hot foot it out of there.

The fireworks began and it distracted the crowd.

--The moral of the story is, Situational Awareness.

Happy Independence Day
