Random Thursday

Teach your children well.
Running on empty today.

The pollen is killing me. If I am outside more than fifteen minutes I start wheezing like an old man.

Going to the range tonight and have not decided what to shoot. Probably my new .22LR again. I'll go to the 100 yard indoor range and dial it in.

A new coffee shop opened in Old Town Manassas. I may go and check it out tonight.

My cat is very demanding this morning. He thinks I need more fur on me.

--Today is about family. No work.

A Big Monday

I took the week off after I finished my Solstice 31 Saga.

Today I start working on my next project titled: Proper Darkness

I believe there will be more guns in this science fiction novel. I have decided to make up all the various Makes and Models that will appear. These will include:
  • Handguns
  • Shotguns
  • Carbines
  • Rifles
  • Suppressors
I differentiate Carbines and Rifles by the distance it was designed to be used. I am also planning on new ammo standards as well.
  • No ejected casings
  • Frangible ammo for inside ships and stations
  • Advanced armor piercing for destroying same
  • Specialty projectiles
--Let me know if you have any cool ideas I can roll in!

Saturday Mornings

I finished writing Blood of the Scarecrow the third book in Solstice 31 Saga, and it's off to the editor. The audio edition of the The Broken Cage has been released. My next novel has a fifteen page outline. So I took the week off from writing.

I went to the range. Alone. I kinda like going alone sometimes. Especially on weekday evenings when the range is not crowded. I need to write a book about a gun enthusiast.

--Saturday coffee is the best coffee. I guess I'll go organize the garage.

Gun Porn:

This is the Mossberg MVP Flex. I love this design. It uses AR15 mags for 5.56mm goodness and compatibility. The adjustable stock is perfect right out of the box.

Random Friday

Jim Rockford died. Er, I mean James Garner. What I liked about his show is that he personally didn't like guns but understood the need for them.

RIP Jim.

I saw Whisky Tango Foxtrot and liked it way more than I expected. Tina Fey enjoying the recreational shooting of a full auto AK47.

Going to try to go to the range again this weekend. Alone. In the morning. On the 100 yard indoor range. Need to finish dialing in my new Savage MarkII.

I have a self imposed deadline for my third Scifi Novel on March 21st. Might need to take a day off.

--Happy Friday People!

Why gun control fails

This is a simple example of how simple it is to make a gun.

--I may have to build one myself!

Range time.

Went to the range yesterday. It was crowded as usual on weekends The four of us that went shared one lane. We ended up on a 25 yard lane. I took my Beretta Px4 .40 cal and my new Savage MarkII.

I dialed the Fixed 4x scope in and was getting groups I could cover with a dime. Zombies beware. Next time I go I will take it to the 100 yard range at ESS and finish dialing it in.

I added a bi-pod to the front of this rifle. It worked great except at one point the spring loaded lead mechanism bit my right thumb and I bled all over the place.

--Still, it was a good day.

--Simple and beautiful.

Roni Carbine SBR

--Fun stuff.

.300 Blackout mags

My current favorite AR-15 is this .300 Blackout SBR, There are many reasons I love this rig.

What I don't love is confusing mags.I did one. Luckly, nothing happened. I marked the mags with some blue masking tape but that not good enough. I was going to buy mags that were a different color but I already have a mountain of mags.

--I decided on paint and a stencil. I am thinking a classic B.
