The Oscars

I fell asleep about 9:30 last night while watching the Oscars.

Even before I fell asleep Mad Max: Fury Road was ahead in the award count. I was glad to see Ex Machina to get one as well.

Here is the full list of winners.

Chris Rock was awesome.

--Lots of guns in Fury Road. Gotta love Hollywood. They have such a guilty relationship with guns and black people.

Random Saturday

The news and the election run up is getting to me.

That same girl that is taking it in the face, also believes that only the police and military should have guns. I'd bet money.

My son is disgusted of his generation. "These people need to read The Communist Manifesto. These fools need to study history. Socialism never ends well."

I'm going town shopping today with my wife. By that I mean looking at a town we are considering for retirement. Today is Lynchburg VA. Looks good from the Internet. Has all we are looking for. So we are going to go stalk the city. Drive around and look in its streets and markets and malls and hospitals and parks and neighborhoods...

Now if only we could find a big mid century modern house with a bob shelter!

--I can't wait to retire to writing Scifi full time!

Friday Gun Porn

What caught my eye was the stamp on the lower: Umbrella Corporation

-Simple and practical. Beautiful.

Running on empty

Monday has extended into Tuesday this week.

I'll be back tomorrow!

Bloggers: New Jovian Thunderbolt

One of the gun blogs I read every day is is from my friend TBolt. He is funny, self deprecating, insightful and interesting. He covers everything from politics to Zombies. And manages to remain sane even though he lives in the Peoples Republic of Maryland.

--Check it out. Unless it's Monday. He is not awake on Monday...

RIP: Anthony Scalia

You probably know already that Supreme Court Justice Anthony Scalia died suddenly at 79 years old.

I respected Scalia.

Not only because he supported the Second Amendment, and the entire bill of rights. But he was one of the breed that could get along and be friends with people that did not hold the same beliefs. I didn't agree with him on everything but would have enjoyed having dinner with him.

His death will be a massive monkey wrench in politics during an already whacked election year.

--RIP, Your Honor. You will be missed.

The Walking Dead is Back

Thank God for Tivo
The Walking Dead is back on AMC and it is going to be another good season.

Zombies are old hat for our guys these days.

I posted this pic because as faithful followers of the Four Rules we never see this view of a real gun.

If you look close you can see the bullets in the cylinder of Darryl's revolver. That is a good detail in that prop gun.

In the novel, The Road by Cormac McCarthy, the protagonist carved fake bullets out of wood so this view would be a better bluff when he was out of ammo.

New Rilfle

I added a new item to the safe yesterday. A Savage Mark II, with a picitinny top rail, fixed 4x Weaver scope and threaded barrel. The can that fits in my AR15 also fits it! I am taking it to the range today fir its maiden voyage.

Ruger Mark II .22LR

--Now if .22 ammo would just free up!

Friday Gun Porn: Kriss Vector

I remain intrigued by these. Maybe because they are showing up in so many Movies!

--I will get one eventually.

OSS Suppressor

I am going to have to look into this.

The OSS suppressor system is a step forward in a piece of weapon’s technology that’s basically remained the same for a century.

Bad Prepper Ideas That Will Get You Killed

I'm a hunter. I have been for decades. I'm pretty good at it as well. I would never consider that as my only plan. Only a supplement.

I constantly hear people say, "If the Shit Hits The Fan I am going yo head for the woods with my rifle and live off the land!"

This usually comes from a person that is out of shape, has never hunted before, and does not even camp.

I saw this great post that is a Reality Check.

12 Bad Prepper Strategies That Could Get You Killed

I think stockpiling guns and ammo is a good idea. But you have to also think about water, food, sanitation, medicine, supplies, gear and many other things. Don't plan on being a refugee as your whole strategy, please. Don't plan on being an asshole, stealing other people stuff. Both will get you killed.

--This article shines a light on several, often repeated, bad ideas.

Random Mondays

Coming up dry on this Monday morning. I stayed up too late last night watching football and I have not watched a single game this season.

There were no chicken wings, dammit.

I should have something more interesting to talk about tomorrow because I think I will go to the range tomorrow.

My wife got her concealed carry permit in the mail on Saturday. I am going to laminate it today.

I finally found some .300 blackout at a decent price, at Walmart of all places.

Got some new scope rings. Now I need the rifle to go under them.

--Coffee and off to work! Have a great week.

--Stupid Asshole.

More Gun Porn

I have this flare launcher already. I like the idea of this. A flare gun with a bit of added utility.

--I'd also register it as a Short Barrel Shotgun because it has a 12ga adapter! Fun Stuff!

Gun Porn

I want one!

A suppressed, 12ga, revolver!

--I need to handle one!

Cruz Takes Iowa

I'm glad Ted Cruz took the Iowa Caucus last night. I don't agree with Cruz on every position but he would get my vote.

Trump came in second and Rubio was only one percent behind Trump.

The lesser candidates are starting to drop off. Their votes are going to likely go to Cruz or Rubio.

Both Rubio and Cruz have a better history of supporting gun rights.

--On to New Hampshire. Happy Groundhogs day!

My bad...

Governor Just Kiddin,,,
Gov. Terry McAuliffe and Republican leaders announced Friday they have reached a deal on Virginia’s gun regulations in a surprising moment of compromise on an issue that had threatened to poison the remainder of the governor’s term in office.

McAuliffe agreed to legislation that says the state must recognize concealed-handgun permits from nearly all states, reversal of Attorney General Mark R. Herring’s decision last month to sever the reciprocity rights of gun owners in 25 states.

--I knew it would not stand. I didn't expect it to cave so fast.
