Boobs and Guns

Protesters in Texas thought that showing up topless to an Open Carry rally to protest the protestors was a good idea.

Carrying signs that said, "Boob are for Babies" they had no idea how big a favor they were doing for the Open Carry folks.

These protests for open carry are to draw attention to the issue. Who knew that 4 nipples would bring so much attention.

--Too bad the breasts were not nicer looking.

The News (or the lack there of)

There was a disturbance in the force.

It was like thousands of voices gasped and cried out... Then were silenced.

I heard some "activist judge" got uppity and and actually gave them what they asked for, common sense gun laws, by declaring bans on concealed carry un constitutional.

--The hippie tears will raise the oceans more than global warming.

Forms

I was filling out insurance forms at a new doctors office last week.

The forms had the question, "Do you have firearms in your home?"

I left it blank.

I resisted the urge to write in, "None of your fucking business!"

--The oddest part is he is urologist!

Maryland is so Stupid

Not only does Maryland pass laws that make their citizens less safe, it also cost the same citizens jobs.

Bretta announced this week that they're leaving Maryland for greener pastures. Greener pastures means a place where they still enjoy freedom.

Police Militarization

I just read a good article that was written by John Stossel.

Conservatives, libertarians and liberals should all worry about the militarization of police

--We need more Andy Griffith and less SWAT.

Long days

I am going on vacation for 2 weeks starting Saturday.

I have been putting long days in at work for the Blog posting has been thin. I usually post early in the morning while drinking my first cup of coffee. This week I have been drinking my first cup in the car on the way to work.

Today I am posting while it brews. I forgot to set it up last night!

--Gotta go!

The Rolling Stone decided to do an article on the 5 most dangerous guns based on their detailed research.
  1. Pistols
  2. Revolvers
  3. Rifles
  4. Shotguns
  5. Derringers
Are they really this bad at being journalist? Shouldn't Axel be in the top five? Or maybe Hammers.

--Shaking my head.

JR Carbine Update

The .45 JR Carbine function modifications are going really well.

The bolt spring is functioning much better. The 27 round mags even work without jamming or other failures.

I have to say that I like the RONI carbine better, even though it cost more. While the JR is better out at 100 yards, I like the compact, more reliable, carbine better.

--Next up a full dissemble and clean.

Range Bags

I have been struggling with my damn range bags. I have tried several several different sizes and configurations. Duffels and backpacks of various sizes.

I need to pack the bag with several  standard items and leave it packed. Right now I pack it the day I go. I always seem to forget something: Alan wrenches, first aid kits, tools, cleaning supplies, disposable ear plugs, lens cloth,  muffs, glasses, batteries, a hat, even coins for vending drinks.

I need a case that is ready. Just add guns, mags and ammo and you're off. I need it to be able to hold several guns of various sizes.

I and recently been checking out the ones with wheels that act like a hand truck. Some of these are even re-purposed camera bags. I like the concept. I need to look a bit closer at those.

--Let me know what you like! What's in your bag?

.500 Mag Fun!

Last couple times I was at Clark Brothers I saw a woman there that was shooting a .500 mag.

She was having a lot of fun and could actually handle it even though she was in her 60's.

Here is a vid of a .500 to show the kind of recoil we are talking about.

The recoil is actually less the shorter the barrel is. You can clearly see a lot of propellent igniting after it exits the barrel.

--Fun Stuff.

Hidden Storage

A friend emailed me another photo of a hidden storage solution.

It looks like this is a cool DIY project. It looks simple enough if you have wood working skills.

I could not find it anywhere on the web besides Pinterest.

There are great solutions if you are really limited on space. Like my first apartment!

It's a good way to keep your guns handy, even long guns!

--Careful you don't spill your Coffee!!

Rifles

I have a lot of rifles.

When I saw this DIVERSITY poster it made my laugh because ti is totally about me.

My wife asked me once, "How many rifles do you beed?"

I replied, "One of each."

There is a WIDE variety of types and styles. There are several kinds that I have not yet obtained.
  • Lever action style Winchester.
  • Break action single shot.
  • Pistol caliber pump action.
  • Bullpup Scifi rig like a P90.
  • Long range .50 BMG.
  • Flintlock muzzle loader.
I could go on and on. I hope my wife doesn't see this post!

--I should add another safe to that list as well...

Running Late... Again

Life has just been busy.

Blogging is thin. Blog fodder has been non-existent.

I have not had time to read even.

I have to clean the gun room this weekend. I am sure I will get a half a dozen posts from that alone.

--Coffee time...

Blogging

I am drinking my morning coffee, watching the news, and sitting down to do my daily blog post, when I hear a story on the TV about a Blogger.

The Redskins hired a Blogger to do outreach for the Team name issue.

He resigned today because of death threats.

Nice.

I have had a few subtle threats buts I think they are trolls that understand that I am a GUN blogger.

For what it's worth I am fine with the Redskins name. When will the PC Police come after the Bullets!?

--Not my circus. Not my monkeys.

Heading home

Traveling home today.

Back to our regular scheduled posting tomorrow!

Still on Vacation

I'm still on vacation.

I did chat with one of my college buddies who just got his handgun permit, including concealed carry, for NY State.

He is frustrated by his limited options as he is shopping. 7 rounds only...

--I'll be here if you need me.

Happy Independence Day!

While you are enjoying the day off, please take a minute to remember the origin of the day.

Fighting government oppression.

--Be careful and enjoy the day.

On Vacation!

Posting will be a bit thin while I am on vacation.

I am currently visiting friend near my home town just outside Buffalo NY. New York State is not a friendly state for gun owners from other states.

So I am going the long weekend with now carry piece.

Granted I am going to be hanging out by their pool the whole time.

New Laws in Effect Today

From the NRA-ILA: July 1, the following pro-gun/pro-hunting laws will take effect in Virginia:

Sunday hunting legislation -- Senate Bill 154, sponsored by now-former state Senator Phil Puckett (D-38), and House Bill 1237, sponsored by Delegate Todd Gilbert (R-15) and 39 colleagues -- repeals the outdated ban on Sunday hunting on private lands with written permission from the owner while still prohibiting hunting within 200 yards of a house of worship, the hunting of deer with dogs and the hunting of bear.  SB 154 was signed into law on April 1 and HB 1237 was signed into law on March 5.

Senate Bill 371, sponsored by Senator Jeffrey McWaters (R-8), allows the Department of Game and Inland Fisheries to issue hunting, trapping and fishing licenses valid for one full year from a future effective date.  SB 371 was signed into law on March 17.

House Bill 127, sponsored by Delegate Ed Scott (R-30), allows persons to hunt big game with muzzleloading pistols of a caliber of .45 or greater where and in those seasons when the use of muzzleloading rifles is permitted.  HB 127 was signed into law on March 5.

House Bill 307, sponsored by Delegate Scott Lingamfelter (R-31), permits local school boards to provide after-school hunter safety education programs for students grades seven through twelve, at the cost of the participant.  HB 307 was signed into law on April 4.

House Bill 357, sponsored by Delegate Rich Anderson (R-51), allows a circuit court clerk to disclose information contained in a concealed handgun permit application to the applicant.  HB 357 was signed into law on March 31.

House Bill 715, sponsored by Delegate Tommy Wright (R-61), establishes a new combined license for persons hunting with a bow and arrow or a crossbow.  HB 715 was signed into law on March 5.

House Bill 752, sponsored by Delegate Tom Rust (R-86), gives a school board discretion in requiring expulsion for certain students found with a firearm on school premises.  HB 752 was signed into law on April 7.

House Bill 1146, sponsored by Delegate Buddy Fowler (R-55), allows apprentice hunters to hunt unsupervised if they have completed a hunter education course.  HB 1146 was signed into law on March 17.

NRA-ILA thanks you for your active involvement during the 2014 legislative session, which helped ensure these measures became law.  As always, please stay tuned to www.nraila.org for future updates.
