Whoever claims the "right" to "redistribute" the wealth produced by others is claiming the "right" to treat human beings as chattel.
--Ayn Rand

 – William E. Simon

Thin posting

I am on business travel for the next week. Posts may be thin.

More later. I'll be back...

Drop Holster

What are you looking at?
I have been trying to figure out what the best holster would be if  was wearing my favorite backpack for camping.

My backpack has a great belt the transfers all the weight of the pack to your hips.

Regular Inside or Outside the waistband holsters just get in the way of the packs belt.

The drop holster in this photo seems like it will solve this problem neatly.

--I also have a chest holster that works, but is not that handy.

Concealed Storage

I really like hidden storage solutions.

The solutions from TacticalWalls are pretty cool for quick and handy solutions.

Fast and handy is the key when the Zombies are at the door.

The locking mechanisms use magnetic keys that do not have keyholes and it keeps them secure and hidden. I really want to see one in person before I buy one.

--Cool stuff.

Smithsonian - Happy Presidents Day

I went to the Smithsonian American History Museum yesterday.

I saw several firearms but I think this one was my favorite of the day.

It is a flintlock musket from 1767.

It is so beautiful and this photo does not do it justice. It looks like new, it's in amazing condition.

It was donated to the museum by Edwin and Adriana Bitter. There has got to be an amazing story there.

--I wonder how many guns they have in the collection? How does that work legally?

Quotes of the Week

"The Smallest Minority on earth is the individual. Those who deny individual rights cannot claim to be defenders of minorities. "
- Ayn Rand

When only cops have guns, it's called a "police state". Love your country, but never trust its government.
-- Robert A. Heinlein.

-- Chief Justice John Marshall, 1819.

"Rightful liberty is unobstructed action, according to our will, within limits drawn around us by the equal rights of others."
-- Thomas Jefferson

Ammo types

I need to do a picture like this of all the rounds I have in the collection.

I don't really have any completely odd ball cals. Is .25ACP odd?

I only keep a few cals in quantity.
  • .22LR
  • 12 gauge
  • .223
  • .308
  • 9mm
  • .45ACP
I do admit that I have a lot of .40 as well but that is not inventoried or minimal levels maintained.

--Yeah I need that pic.

Glock 9mm Variations

Here is a handy graphic that I saw on Pinterest that shows in a single graph the variety of 9mm versions there are from Glock.

I sighed at the notable exclusion of the Glock 18 full auto 9mm.

I can really see from this image that all of these can actually use the same IWB holster that I have.

ABC News reports on guns mislead Americans

John Lott shines light on the bias agenda of ABC's 20/20 story on guns.

I call Bullshit on it too.

--But the pic is nice...

Snow Watch

The region is bracing itself for a big snow storm.

I am hoping it's a big one.

I would love it if everything is closed on Thursday.

I could stay home and clean guns and load mags and do a pile of maintenance that I have been ignoring for far too long.

The Gun World seems kind of still right now. Virginia Gun Trader is quiet these days.

--Maybe I can even finish Marko's book!

SQRPT This Week

Just a quick couple things because I am on the run today!

First: Read this book, damn you! Terms of Enlistment by Marko Kloos. It is a great book. I am currently reading Lines of Departure as fast as I can!

I am trying to finish it before the SQRPT postcast this week because Marko is the special guest on the show to discuss his books.

--Gotta go. Gots some readin to do!!

HK XM29 OICW

This is an HK XM29 OICW. It has a 20mm, mag fed, grenade launcher over a standard 5.56 rifle. I always thought a 12ga over .223 or .308 would have excellent utility for hunting and Zombies! It would be good if it didn't weigh a ton!

HK XM29 OICW
--I guess I will need to make my own!

Target Shooting in America

Here is another infographic piece.

Target shooting is fun! I wish ammo wasn't so scarce in .22LR!

I will usually spend between $50 and $100 on ammo per session with .45 or .223 or .308 or 9mm. I spend the rest of the session shooting .22LR.

--The .22LR draught has seriously cut into my reserves.

Running Late

Last night I took my kids to a concert. It was really great to spend the time with them.

The band and the crowd were interesting but it was kind of weird for me.

The Event was in Washington DC.

What that means is that I had to leave my guns at home. My favorite knives as well.

At one point I had gone to take a leak and I walked out of the bathroom right into a crowd of cops that were searching the place. Probably 20 cops. Hands on guns. Walking through the crowd systematically looking for someone specific.

Apparently someone took a cab to the 9:30 Club and in stead of paying, robbed the cabby at gun point. Then calmly entered the club.

-I felt so naked.

Excellent Video

One of the best vids I have seen regarding many issues associated with guns.

--Well done.

Really?

At the gun show this weekend I saw the Sig SB15 Pistol Stabilizing Brace.

This thing is designed to go on AR pistol rigs and NOT violate any NFA Short Barrel Rifle rules.

--Really?

KRISS

I really like pistol caliber carbines.

In recent years I have spent a lit of cash on them. Most notably, these three:
  • Beretta Cx4 .40
  • JR Carbine .45
  • Roni Glock 21 .45
A friend emailed me this photo of the KRISS Carbine in action. He just shot one this weekend and stated that If I had tried one first I may have stopped there...

Sigh.

--I still want one.
