Long Week

I am so glad it is Friday and a long weekend.

Here are some of the things I got going for me:

• Coffee. Coffee now and every day.
• Pizza for lunch today.
• I'm a Bachelor this weekend so I am going to rip a wall down and make a lot of dust while there is loud music.
• There will be beers, cigars and Bourbon.
• I will be taking The JR Carbine to the range.
• Movies in the home theater will be many and full of Beautiful Women with powerful firearms.
• Steak and bacon.
• Did I mention it's a 110 inch screen?
• I might even sleep in until 6:30am!
• And we will kick it off with Jane Russell...

Logic Dictates

Demonizing Things

I was born in the late 50's.

Back then where I lived in rural Western NY guns were everywhere and were looked on as tools.

Every kid had them as toys. I must have had 10 cap guns. Eventually it was BB guns. By the time I was 10 I was shooting varmints for my dad with the .410.

Schools didn't freak out if we played Cowboys and Indians or Cops and Robbers. Girls snd Boys.

I could identify every kid I knew by the unique machine gun sound they could make with their mouth.

The political correctness hit.

This week the parents of a def kid named Hunter was told, "Deaf child's sign language name looks too much like gun".

--How can we shake some sense into this culture?

Gunsmithin: Part 4 - Final

I finally picked up my JR Carbine from the Gunsmith last night. The barrel is now threaded and my suppressor now works on both my Glock 21 and the JR Carbine. I upgraded the grips, added the EOTech, the flipups, and the hot green LASER!

I can't wait to get this to the range. I have aired out the suppressed Glock several times. Love it!

Blog Fail

Got home from work today and discovered the post I had scheduled for today has been stolen.

You become complacent with your tools when the work fine a thousand times in a row.

I can't even remember what was scheduled for today, dammit.

Oh Well.

--So in stead or our regular scheduled free icecream, have this public service announcement...

The SWAT Bot

The SWAT Bot

It's almost hunting season again in Virginia.

I am feeling really old, so I was thinking that this year it would be totally awesome if I could go hunting and never leave the comfort of my E Z Boy recliner!

TBolt and I did a lot of scouting this weekend in prep for the season. We found a few good spots for stands and blinds. We also got completely eaten up by chiggers.

I would refit this baby with my Saiga 12 gauge shotgun!

Camouflaged nicely this baby is perfect for hunting!

--I would if these can be found on Amazon.com!

Quotes of the Week

We hear this, and the only possible explanation are that these people are evil - determined to seize all guns from the population and ensure a monopoly of force to the government - or tools.  Perhaps well meaning tools, but ignorant and easily led by the evil group.

Some nights the wolves are silent, and the moon howls.

--George Carlin

"Not murdering people is EASY, I do it all the time..."

The Kriss Kard

I must confess I am curious. Just how recoil-less can it be?

Inventory

This weekend I plan on a refresh of my inventory for insurance.

I will take digital photos of each firearms and annotate them with make model and serial numbers. In addition to that, detail the accessories, because they often add up!

After this is all done I create a spreadsheet and make  hard copies of the spreadsheet. Finally all the images are tossed on a thumb CD and put in my safety deposit box.

Then there will be Bourbon.

--Plus I will be watching Paint Your Wagon!

10 Things on Fast and Furious

The NRA/ILA put together the list below regarding the Fast and Furious Scandal. I don't usually go into politics too far. Others address this debacle far better than me. It's important that the F&F background come into sharper focus during this election.

This is preaching to the choir. I know. I will use this list in reasoned discourse as I find the fence sitters. I have already known lots of people that bought into the "Hope and Change, wouldn't it be cool to have a black guy as president", bullshit of 2008.

Top Ten Things You Need To Know About Fast and Furious

1. The Obama administration illegally helped traffic over 2,000 guns to violent Mexican drug cartels.
2. U.S. Border Patrol Agent Brian Terry was murdered by Mexican criminals with guns they received through Fast and Furious.
3. The Obama administration used Fast and Furious to bolster its false claim that 90 percent of guns used in Mexican drug crimes come from the United States.
4. Obama’s Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (BATFE) leaned on U.S. gun shops to sell guns to known buyers for Mexican drug cartels.
5. Obama’s Assistant Attorney General, Lanny Breuer, lied to Congress when he claimed that BATFE never knowingly allowed the sale of guns to known buyers for Mexican drug cartels.
6. The Obama administration armed violent Mexican drug cartels and endangered American lives to push a gun control agenda.
7. The Obama administration deliberately used guns trafficked through Fast and Furious to make the case for implementing an illegal gun registration scheme in four U.S. border states.
8. Despite congressional subpoenas, Obama’s Attorney General Eric Holder has refused to turn over more than 90 percent of the vital documents that pertain to this scandal.
9. Obama invoked “executive privilege” to help Eric Holder conceal Fast and Furious documents from congressional investigators and the American public.
10. On June 28, 2012, a bipartisan majority in the U.S. House voted to hold Eric Holder in criminal and civil contempt of Congress. Eric Holder is the first U.S. Attorney General ever to be held in contempt of Congress

--Corrupt and possibly evil. At very least we need to have them out of office for this and other issues.

Found: SOG Flash II

SOG Flash II

So the other day I was wandering through the universe, walking down a dirt road, listening to Ventura Highway on Pandora when I spotted a knife in the weeds.

I picked it up and tossed it in my pocket and forgot about it.

There was no hope in finding the owner. Probably some kid on a bike.

Days later I cleaned it up and noticed that it was a decent knife. It cleaned up really well. It's a bit bigger than I usually carry but the action is great for one hand opening.

I looked it up and the Intertubes to discover that it is a SOG Flash II and retails for $75.

--SCORE!

Wounded Warrior Fundraiser Blogshoot

From Lagniappe's Lair:

"OK, folks, it's that time again.

Following on last year's shoot and all-around fun day, there will be another blogshoot here in the VA/WV/MD area to raise money for Wounded Warriors.

So mark your calendars for Saturday, September 22nd, and be prepared to show up here with as many guns as you'd like to bring and let's spend a few hours on the range, followed by dinner nearby. It will be at a different range than last year's event and this one is better-located and has more range space and fewer restrictions on shooting so long as everyone's safe. So far, we've already got Old NFO, Keads, Proud Hillbilly and Aaron of The Shekel tentatively confirmed, and all but one of them is coming from a distance, so any of you within a couple hundred miles have no distance-related excuse. Come on out, spend a day shooting with your blog pals and help us raise money for a good cause.

For more info and range location, leave me a comment with your contact info or e-mail me at: martinihenrywv@gmail.com"

--I'll be there. I hope to see you there!!

Custom Leather

A friend emailed me this picture because he knows I love guns the way he loves motorcycles. I know lots of shooters that love Bikes too.

Custom leather for a modern cowboy.

I could never just park this anywhere. Unless you also had a holster on my person. But if I had a holster wouldn't my gun be better in there even if I was riding?

I don't care.

--It's still damn cool!

Quotes of the Week

Thomas Jefferson on "No Gun Zones"

"The laws that forbid the carrying of arms are laws of such a nature. They disarm only those who are neither inclined nor determined to commit crimes.... Such laws make things worse for the assaulted and better for the assailants; they serve rather to encourage than to prevent homicides, for an unarmed man may be attacked with greater confidence than an armed man."

- Thomas Jefferson

You don't need a "high capacity" magazine for a theater shooting. This is the gun that killed President Lincoln

-- Emily Miller

"Those who can make you believe absurdities can make you commit atrocities."

--Voltaire

Politically popular speech has always been protected: even the Jews were free to say Heil Hitler.

- Isaac Asimov

“We must be as stealthy as rats in the wainscoting of their society. It was easier in the old days, of course, and society had more rats when the rules were looser, just as old wooden buildings have more rats than concrete buildings. But there are rats in the building now as well. Now that society is all ferrocrete and stainless steel there are fewer gaps in the joints. It takes a very smart rat indeed to find these openings. Only a stainless steel rat can be at home in this environment...”

Video of the week: Silencer Addiction

Here is a video of the Savage Mark II with a suppressor that I was . It compares how much noise it makes with other quiet things.

--This would be an excellent Zombie Defense Tool!!
